The Work Sharp Rolling Knife Sharpener is a handheld manual sharpener that uses a Magnetic Angle Block and Rotating Abrasives to quickly and easily sharpen your knives. The Magnetic Angle Block has four different sharpening angles (15°, 17°,20°, 25°) to sharpen a wide variety of knives from Folders, Pocket Knives, and Kitchen knives to the optimum angle. The three abrasives - coarse 320 Grit diamond, fine 600 Grit diamond, and fine ceramic hone will restore your knives back to a razor-sharp edge. Place your knife against the Magnetic Angle Block on one of the pre-set angles. Starting with the Coarse Abrasive, roll the abrasive along the cutting edge then quickly change to the finer abrasives to complete the process. It’s that easy. Compact size easily fits into a kitchen drawer. Never struggle with a dull knife again. Sharpen with Work Sharp. Work Sharp is a 4th generation family-owned business in Southern Oregon that is dedicated to designing and manufacturing the finest in sharping tools. Customer centered designs are the core of our design philosophy and our products are backed by a 3-year warranty.

I liked that Misen knives were used for the demo, but I think she used the wrong angle. They’re ground Japanese style and she should have used a 15 degree angle. It looked like she used the 17 degree angle.

At 1:30 you mention assessing for very dull blade. Thats why I am consididering this device. Does it NOT sharpen dull blades?
@WorkSharpOutdoor
@WorkSharpOutdoor 9 ай бұрын
Inspecting the edge informs where to start when it comes to choosing which grit to start with. If the blade is really dull or has small chips, then start with 320 grit and progress through. If the knife just needs to be touched up then you can start with 600 and avoid removing more material than is necessary.

Are you sure you can wash off the knife metal debris, which are attracted to the magnetic Angle Block? Can this new sharpener sharpen a thick knife of 0.25 inch thick like Becker BK2?
@WorkSharpOutdoor
@WorkSharpOutdoor 9 ай бұрын
The rubber cover is removable so you can wash them separate from the magnets. As for sharpening a BK2: it could be done, but for a large outdoor knife like this we recommend something a bit different. Try the Professional Precision Adjust, the Ken Onion Edition, or the Field Sharpener. The Rolling Knife Sharpener is first designed for sharpening kitchen knives, and also sharpens common pocket knives.

Thought you do alternate sides on one grit then go to next grit as opposed to finishing all grits on one side like you did? It matters.

Good point and sorry if there was some confusion. We cover this process twice in the video at 1:55 and 2:11 but to be clear, yes sharpen both sides of the knife on one grit before moving on to a finer grit and repeat the process.

Is there enough ferrous material in stainless steel knives for this to work?

Considering stainless steel is mostly iron, I'd say yes

Rather than setting specific angles, why not have it be adjustable? Just use a screw and hinge mechanism, turn the screw, pushes out the hinge and adjusts the angle. Mark the screw at various points to indicate angles. This way you're not limited to those angles you set. Most higher end Japanese knives are sharpened to 12 or even 10 degrees nowadays. 15/17 degrees will not get the same performance.

A lil sad Worksharp jumped on this bandwagon. Maybe put something out that can replace a honing rod for basic home cooks but not this as a sharpening system. I expect better of you WorkSharp. As a long time user of many of your products I need to ask....Don't be a Lemming.

“no one” 😂 no one may need it but many people may want it. Its a convenient way to sharpen a knife especially when compared to traditional freehand whetstone sharpening. If worksharp didn’t think that anyone would buy it then they never would’ve produced it in the first place.
@BigBaj
@BigBaj 9 ай бұрын
my friend, you may not need it if you're used to free hand sharpening but there are plenty of people who aren't or who don't have that many or don't need a knife that is razor sharp. its fine if you know the angle, but not everyone does, so why complain.

I'm not a retard so I know how to check the angle with a sharpie 🤷🏻‍♂️. I don't need a system like this but I'm going to get it because it's faster for quick sharpening than using my edge pro apex for regular knives.
