I have had many many people request I take Rolling Line for a spin over the years. This is the first time I've ever loaded it up and it coincides with the update to game AI which, even with a superficial glance, makes it look pretty powerful in creating an automated model.
You don't want to watch the video and just want to know what I think? I think it's pretty great. I want to tinker with it a lot more. At least sufficiently that I don't keep pressing the wrong flamin buttons all the time. The learning curve is far from shallow, but it rewards you as they get there.
***********
Behold! While some may describe this section of the video as the link graveyard, I offer you treasures, delights and mischief. This section of the description rarely changes, except when it does (*).
Okay, that's a total lie, it's a link graveyard. It is however delivered with the kind of panache you have come to expect.
Why is any of this interesting? Because I try to make the nonsense that occurs behind each of these links worth your while. You can trust me. No reason is offered why you can trust me, just know that you can.
Let's do the commercial gubbins first. Anything you procure from the below will help out the channel, although I might spend some of the kickbacks I get on "projects". If any of these projects see the light of day, you'll be the first to know.
Would you like a personal video? Maybe you fancy sponsoring the outro, sending a birthday message, life tips or buying a video? Get yourself to the Wisio! www.wisio.com/Colonel_Failure
Perchance you would care for some merchandise? Only the very best will do for the Colonel's table! freshmerch.fm/collections/col...
If you'd like to support the channel and get some rather magical bonus videos, access to the lunacy of the Discord channel and more offers to play games than sticks should be shaken at. More importantly you'll be part of the last emergency service - The Fail Brigade. Zesty! Two ways to get with the program-
Option 1 (several different tiers available): Patreon - / colonelfailure
Option 2 (one size-fits all): KZfaq - kzfaq.info...
Last but not least, if you want to know my current "rig" (that's what we young people call it) consists of visit the ole Amazon storefront where I will tempt you with things, all of which I do not regret using my own personal pocket money on: www.amazon.co.uk/shop/colonel...
Let us move on from tales of commerce to things more fun-loving.
Do you want to follow a Twitter account that is actually cheerful? Not in the kind of way that offers life-affirming, inspirational text with a waterfall in the background, but in a jolly, acerbic kind of way? Follow me on Twitter. That's what I do. I almost never shill my latest video entertainment. / cnlfailure
Do you want to know what videos are coming up each week? A few people do. I don't always get around to publishing the schedule, but when I do, I do it on Facebook. Not sure why I chose Facebook, but there you are. / cnlfailure
Okay, you've made it. You clicked at least two links, now get your reward.

I absolutely love this game and would appreciate more videos on it. A few pieces of advice in the event you continue with this game, you can hold down left click before placing track to get an idea of what it will look like once placed. This will help greatly with curves. Also, I believe you had an AI enable sign which turns the AI on for trains that go over the source track. From what I know, the only way to toggle switches is using signals so trains switch to a free track. The magazine are based on the Model Railroader magazine and the controller is based on the NCE ProCab controller. Anyway, loved the video and hope for many more!

I've definitely got a big learning curve to muddle through, not least of all in remembering the right button to press. Even then I'm really loving the aesthetic.

It just needs to print out / save a 3d model of the setup so you can 3d print it out and have a physical version after you spent all that time with it. Then you 3d print them and wala it's a train set. =D

Aww i love the updates being magazines! That is so on brand for model railing as that's how actual modelers would get the latest news. Reminds me of how my dad would buy Model Rail magazine before stopping when he couldn't work on his layout anymore.

I really enjoyed this as a first-look, and the game looks like fun. I'm not sure that a long series on it though would have much longevity. With a goal or objective, perhaps, but as a sandbox I don't see it having a lot of life in its current stage of development.

9:37 There's two sets of seemingly identical curve pieces, just with opposing convex/concave bends. Perhaps the lft-hand set you picked up from always curves to the right, while the opposite set would curve left. Granted that this all goes in the toilet is those curve pieces aren't mirrors.
