@@TheAlanRosenbergShow Thank you, Alan, for your kind response. Just a follow-up on that Hyde Park concert I saw. The date of the concert was July 3rd, 2022, 53 years exactly after the death of Brian in 1969. The Stones' first Hyde park concert was on July 5th, 1969, 2 days after Brian died. As we know, the concert back then was for the Stones to get their performance chops back and to introduce the fans to Mick Taylor. But then, with Brian's passing just 2 days earlier, the concert became a tribute to Brian. As I stood there in Hyde Park on July 3rd, 2022, pondering all this, it seemed to me a perfect occasion for Mick and Keith to simply make a mention of Brian, maybe even dedicate a song to him; they did play Paint It Black which we know Brian contributed heavily on. Of course, this was very wishful thinking on my part as no mention was ever made. Charlie was noted in the show's introduction as he was for every concert on this tour, very rightly so (and also very touching), but nothing on Brian in spite of the anniversary. I don't know how many fans in attendance that day were aware of the date and venue coincidence with Brian's passing, probably a minority, but Mick was mum on this. It was a great show anyway, an incredible personal experience for me in London. Thanks, again, Alan.

@@michael1415 Great memory for you and thanks for sharing. I don't know for sure - but certainly that tour you saw was difficult and in memory of Charlie. Although amazing that it was exactly 40 years after Brian's death. I think when they first returned to Hyde Park in 2013 - that was historic. They released Sweet Summer Sun Hyde Park Live and the deluxe edition included the long lost original Hyde Park film so perhaps they felt they didn't need to do it again ....don't know for sure...but nevertheless, they certainly could have mentioned Brian for sure.

Of course as you know, when they returned for Steel Wheels, it was a radical new sound, with the larger band, backup singers and a total professionalism and tightness like never before. I certainly don’t think the current state of the guitars could handle how the used to do it. And I love the tighter sound as well. As much as I love Gimme Shelter from the Taylor era, and I do, nothing beats those Lisa Fischer era versions. Was like levitating. Just my thought. The Stones sound so different from tour to tour which makes collecting their live music so much fun. What I miss is a really great lead guitar player but that’s another story of course.

@@TheAlanRosenbergShow Yeah...Steel Wheels was the beginning of them having the caravan of backing musicians and singers, not always to great effect, in my opinion, and the ginormous set pieces...I always preferred the leaner, cruder version of the band, but that obviously isn't practical anymore, with only three 'legit' band members remaining, and octogenarian status to 2 of the 3. Actually, I'm not sure they really could've done that kind of show by the time of Voodoo Lounge...maybe, but I guess we'll never know. When you do hear the four of them in rehearsals, or on studio bootlegs, it still astounded me, even in the later years, how well they still played together. And, of course, those lucky enough to see the club or theater shows can attest to that. Also, with you mentioning that you're a native Long Islander, you may be as good a source to ask this inquiry as anyone: why have the Stones never played the Nassau Coliseum? I mean, the Garden was basically as close as they would get to a 'home' venue, but given their deep connection to NY, why did they never play there, especially since it was a mainstay for countless rock and pop artists, as you know. I mean, I used to think maybe it had to do with the Stones playing to more of an "urban" crowd, and Long Island being too "suburban" for their audience--yet they played places like the Prudential Center, Brendan Byrne Arena, et all...any idea? I mean, seating capacity is similar to the Garden, no?

@@anthonyaswe4174 Thanks - that's such an awesome question and it's been one I've been pondering for decades. The Nassau Coliseum was probably my main venue in the 70's and 80's. The seating capacity was slightly smaller than the Garden but still close - 16000 at the Coliseum. And EVERY act that played the Garden played the Coliseum, usually on the same exact tour - couple of nights at the Garden and a couple of nights at the Coliseum. Was fantastic, and back in those days, we were able to get tickets from Ticketmaster - at Macy's or at the box office. But yea, The Stones were always the one act that stood out that never played the Coliseum, except the Steel Wheels rehearsal was at The Coliseum. They set up the whole stage inside - deep security - I had no idea, nor did many until after the fact. I guess the Coliseum never had the cache of the Garden, deservedly so, but yet that's not really true since everyone played it....well except The Stones. So I don't know why....weird.

I didn't watch the Honky Tonk or Sympathy videos from Vegas - no desire to. Those warhorses are played to death so didn't watch them. Keith was playing acoustic on You Got The Silver as was Ronnie - Ronnie was playing slide - it was really nice. Love that song. I don't think the Stones have never done Tumbling Dice on tour since 1972 when it came out. Certainly a definitive Stones track. Also love All Down The Line of course. Counting Crows were a cool opener for the Stones but I saw them open on the Voodoo Lounge tour in 1994. I don't remember them opening on the Bridges Tour. I think you saw the Voodoo Lounge tour. I've only seen cell phone video, but it sounds great to my ears. Want balls - how about opening with Brown Sugar, which they opened the '72 tour with...lol. That won't happen lol. Side topic but sort of related to my previous setlist rant. David Gilmour announced a new tour - well select dates anyway for his upcoming album. Whenever he plays live, he plays the whole, or virtually his whole new album. This new tour, he has stated in advance that he will not play any Waters era Floyd. So he will only play his solo material and possibly the two Floyd albums he led. Are his fans complaining - will they not go....hmmm I tried to get tickets - he has instantly sold out FOUR shows at Madison Square Garden. Some artists and their fans....well they look forward to hearing new material and have no issue without hearing ANY classics....

With all the numerous responses in the comments section for each of your videos, you may not recall my pitch for “Brown Sugar” to be the “Hackney Diamonds” tour opener. It’s included in my response to your initial video on the Houston show. The Stones have been my #1 rock ‘n’ roll band since I first discovered them when I was in single digits. I have seen them at least once, and oftentimes more than once, on every tour since 1975. While some eras have been better than others for The Stones (as is the case for all bands), my fandom has been steadfast. However, I will never forgive Mick Jagger (whom I believe is the best frontman ever) for canceling “Brown Sugar” because of anticipated misconceptions. Instead of setting the record straight (no pun intended), Mick, being the Sir that he is, played it safe by not rocking the smooth-sailing boat he’s been on for a very long time. “Brown Sugar” is killer on every level. Even Keith Richards said (to paraphrase, here) he can’t understand how it is not obvious to everyone that “Brown Sugar” is about the horrors of slavery. Geez, nobody but Lynyrd Skynyrd (of course) has ever - to my knowledge, anyway - objected to Neil Young’s “Southern Man.” Neil’s lyrics for that song include: “I heard screamin’ and bullwhips cracking.” Mick’s lyrics for “Brown Sugar” include: “Hear him whip the women just around midnight.” Does anyone notice any similarities? How can anyone think that these words CONDONE slavery? Can it be any clearer that these lyrics DESCRIBE a horrible occurrence that undisputedly took place in America? In a previous video, you included Neil Young among the artists who don’t kowtow when it comes to his setlists, or, for that matter, anything else regarding his music. You also mentioned that he, among others like Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Grateful Dead and Phish, play what they want, how they want. And still, they sell out concerts and the fans don’t grumble about which songs made the cut and which didn’t. The fans are happy to hear what they hear from artists they love and appreciate. Why should the majority of Stones fans be any different? Maybe, they wouldn’t be if Mick didn’t sell them short. I’d love to see him grow a pair, put his ego in check, and replace many of the warhorses with new songs and deep cuts. Then, he would be giving the fans credit by enabling them to appreciate what’s below the surface - like the aforementioned artists do. Knowing that “Brown Sugar” won’t be brought back by Mick, my second choice for the tour’s lead-off song is “Angry.” As for David Gilmour, I had read that he added a fourth Garden show, because of popular demand, which also sold out as quick as lightning flashes. Good on him for trusting his fans to be open to and appreciative of his new material and earlier music for which he is the driving force. He is an artist who believes in himself and his fans. Clearly, those beliefs have paid off in terms of ticket sales. I’m happy for him and his fans, of which I am one. When I saw Floyd’s concert at the Garden to promote the “Animals” album, his solos were so great that even all the awesome special effects couldn’t distract from his playing. Maybe, you’ll eventually score tickets to a Gilmour show as the dates get closer. I hope you do.

The Stones are one of the only major artists who haven't pulled "the last tour - farewell" card and I respect them so much for that. If they pulled that card - would be a bigger selling tour for bigger ticket pricing. So we don't know if this is their finale. But my heart says, the obvious, can they keep doing this and that seems kind of doubtful. If this is in fact their finale, could have been cool to play arena's and go full our balls to the wall, and say fuck it, we're playing what we want for the final time - and yea - opening up with Brown Sugar - that's a statement the old Rolling Stones would've made. Follow that with Star Star - I'm a happy man. But who knows. But yea 20 years of kow towing to their casual fan lowest common denominator greatest hits over and over again....it's a shame. David Gilmour is a great example - so far four quick sellouts at Madison Square Garden and he's saying upfront he's not gonna play any Waters' era Floyd. And I'd be thrilled with that - give me Gilmours solo career with some Division Bell / Momentary Lapse material - end of the night no ones gonna miss Wish You Were Here. The Stones' could've been like that if they went a different direction a long time ago, like Springsteen, U2, Dylan, Neil Young and others....

I can only guess. Personally I don't mind it not being played on the current tour. It's been a staple forever. It's incredible no doubt, one of the definitive Stones tracks. But it can be long and since they're doing a tight play list, time wise, we can get 3 songs in for one Rambler. It could be musical as well. Perhaps, they fell they're just not up to it anymore. Charlie certainly had such a grasp of that song - absolutely perfect - maybe was too different with Jordan. I don't know really.

@@TheAlanRosenbergShow just a follow up comment, bc I just got home yesterday and needed a few days to process the show, and with everything I said, I have come to the realization and now an appreciation for what kinda of a show, and admiration of what kind of a band, they are and a sense of respect for what the Stones are, all the past and now present, they definitely are the quintessential and definition of rock and roll and musical longevity, they’ve set and continue to set the example and standard to all the bands before and now after them, and I found them at a time when I needed new music and boy am I glad I did, but what really did make me love and respect the stones even more is the love and respect they have for themselves, the band, other bands and artists that came before and after them, and as much as everyone would like to say intentionally or not, they’ve NEVER EVER done a “farewell tour” like many bands before and after them have done, I’d rather pay huge money for the stones to play a normal tour than pay huge money for a tour tagline that’ll end up being a scam cash grab, and also they don’t play and refuse to play to backing tracks, they keep it 100% real, raw, authentic, rough around the edges rock and roll, and music in general, music, and it genuinely makes me upset that as much as me and countless of other people would love the stones to constantly tour, the show will have to eventually end, and in stones fashion, the last show will be unknown, so if the show in Vegas was my last stones show then it was one hell of a way to go out, and as of now, was the tightest I’ve seen them and many others as well as you have agreed.

I want to double up on one big point you made. And it's so true and unique. They have NEVER announced a farewell tour. And pretty much everyone else has, which drums up huge business above and beyond what the act would normally do - all because it's the farewell, only to return again for more shows. It's a scam. And The Stones have had countless opportunities. In fact journalists will always ask them, "so this can be the last time" and they don't even admit that. Pretty amazing. Thanks so much again.
