I've just spent the last 21mins the most entertained I've ever been while on KZfaq or pretty much anywhere in life. Henry Rollins is always amazing and ever entertaining in all that he does, but to hear him telling his story of his quest to annihilate Iggy Pop (who is the ruler of the universe in my eyes) was GOLD. I've never laughed so hard at Henry and his antics. And his impersonation of Iggy on stage was spot on! I'm absolutely certain my future holds for me another viewing of this video!

this is prime era Rollins spoken word. His shows were so strong between the era of 'The Boxed Life' and 'Think Tank'. I admire his constant adapting (the more politically-focused end-of-Bush-era shows, and then the Obama period), which he kind of had to do. I saw him in a small venue just before the more political talk shows took hold - about 2003/04: it was unforgettable.

Haha I knew it would turn out like this. The problem is that Henry looks at this too much like a man, with that kind of diligence, discipline, commitment to training and explicit expectation you may make a good soldier or serial killer but feral animals don’t think like that, it takes a mentality of truly not giving a fuck about anything but rock n roll and destruction to be a ride or die maniac like Iggy Pop. Sure everyone has to master their art by practicing but you don’t need no regimen if that’s who you are 24/7.

I have a story about Iggy. I saw him in the early seventies in Detroit, small venue/stage with an orchestra pit. He did his thing with died silver hair. Screaming while doing gymnastics. I had a prime spot- right up front in the orchestra pit seated on top of my boyfriend’s shoulders. I could clearly see Iggy very close up no obstructions. Had my camera in my hands and I started snapping away. He did a back-bend and I got it smack dead center, epic shot. It was less than an hour and Iggy was already winding it down and the band stopped playing. Then he asked the audience where do we want to go party? “Name a place” he said and motioned with his mic for someone to take it. I was right there closer than anyone. I grabbed the mic as he handed it to me, but instead of suggesting a place to go and party, I yelled at him “why don’t you play longer, it is too short Jim Osterburg!!” He quickly jerked the mic out if my hands ignoring my question. And looked for someone else who might have a suggestion. I don’t remember what exactly happened next bcuz I was climbing down if my boyfriends shoulders and we started to leave the concert hall.when one if the guards who were policing the crowd, snatched my camera out if my hands. He walked back to the office and we followed. There he ripped out my film- all of it. Exposing my film and ruining the whole roll. Then he let us go. So we left before the madness got worse as it was too scary wild out in the concert area.
