Why do you say he's underrated? He was considered a football God in the 90's. Didn't get the Ballon d'Or in '94 only because the trophy was still reserved for European players. But he still won Player of the World Cup in 1994.

The most incredible thing about Romario is that he probably never trained in his life. the best story is when he wanted to go to Brazil for the carnival and Cruyff, his manager at Barcelona, said he would let Romario go if he scored twice at the El Classico. Romario: challenge accepted. He scored twice before the half time and asked to be substituted to go to Rio.

Haaland is a giant in size.....u can expect him to move like Romario!....My father still to this day tells me that Romario was better than Ronaldo the phenom....I was too young to have understood football as a kid in Romario's prime & by the time I did grow up to understand things, Romario had gone & Ronaldo had taken over....so I never understood what my father felt with regards to what he said till youtube came around & I got to see highlights of the greats he spoke about...thats I always appreciate these kind of vids

He's not better than Messi, let's keep it real, but he's definitely one of the greatest players ever and on the shortlist for best striker of all time. Messi could be the best winger, playmaker and striker in the world depending on how he felt that day, Romario was phenomenal, but was a pure striker.

Completely different players. Haaland has nothing close to the technical ability Romario had, and he never will. But he's a killer in the box. If he stays fit, his career numbers will be outrageous.

@@Mopark25There are plenty of more talented players and particularly strikers than Haaland : Eusebio, Sanchez, Puskas, Muller, Van Basten, Romario, Ronaldo, Batistuta, Henry, Schevchenko, Torres, Villa, Van Persie, Zlatan, Falcao, Aguero, Vlahovic, Mbappe, etc.... But I think none of them will be as deadly as Haaland if he keeps improving and being in good shape till the end of his carreer.

There's something about Romario's force that I don't see any more these days. Like the goal he scored against Madrid. Once he dragged that ball on a 360, the force to make that final run to dart the ball to score was next level. OMG! I missed out on watching him play, but after R9 and Henry, he has to be somewhere up there amongst strikers.

Most people would say R9 was better because he was a ragging bull, the ultimate combination of strenght, speed and dribbling...but Romario had the best first touch ever for a striker, he could surpass the defenders and find a good position to score with one or two touches, a genius as Cruyff used to say...so, in most situations he does not need to try multiple dribbles next to the box...oh, and he also was the best finisher of the game IMHO.

Genius, Audacity & Swagger! That's what I miss about old school football. They really tried to entertain. When was the last time we've seen a super cocky chip from outside the box?
