It resembles but lacks the quality of the details. Those colors seem flatter (not as rich) than the Pompeii villas.

Having been to most of these I have to say it was great 're-viewing' them, thank you. My favourite is the Villa Borg, it's a fabulous place to visit and you can even 'dress' as a Roman to have lunch should you wish. Watch out for their version of chicken though, left something to be desired 🙂

Wow. They really did live in luxury even by today's standards. Amazing. Very similar to the Pompeii ruins so very plausible.

We in the west are a sad shadow of the standards and culture established by the Romans. Our cultures and technology are lineally descended from this rootstock, but we cant do things half as well.

@@AleksiJuvakka A slave in the Roman empire was a different thing to what you consider a slave to be. We have billions of them by Roman standards. They would see no difference between your mexican maid and his Assyrian slave girl.
@AleksiJuvakka5 ай бұрын
@@Whit-mh9nt What a wild take, we don't have chattel slavery anymore. Saying that being a maid today is as bad as being chained and forced to work in a mine until death is just crazy.
@Whit-mh9nt5 ай бұрын
@@AleksiJuvakka only criminals in ancient rome were chained and forced to work at dangerous occupations, and we have that now, prison work, chain gangs. The house servant was treated rather better then yours is. Learn some history. The slave of Rome was almost exactly equivalent to todays wage slave. Only the food and accomodation were provided and not worried about. Rome was civilised, dude.

romans knew how to cast small glass thingamabobbies all the window openings high and low we see in these reconstructions I wonder if they figured out how to join glass pieces making window frames letting in what would have been gorgeous light,,,, lime,,pine oil other seed oils they had them,some inventive traades guy might have figured this out how to mix them and make ancient putty to join and seal the window from outside weather

Die modernen Gebäude sind auf den antiken Fundamenten wieder erstanden. Rekonstruiert ist die Bauphase, in der die Villa ihre größte Ausdehnung hatte, der Bauzustand des 2. bis 3. Jhd.n.Chr.
