This _literally_ made me cry laughing. Their dynamic might actually be the most hysterical of all hetalia. The way Germany just... has absolutely no idea how to deal with Romano. Like Romano just comes up and tries really dramatically to start a fight, but he just ends up confusing Germany and making himself look worse, pissing himself off more. And Germany doesn't even _dislike_ Romano, he's just like... Ok. Sure. Good luck for next time. (Possible fave: "Look here _Germany,_ I've got something dickish to say to you!" "Ja? ...Go ahead then.")

i saw a comic wherein romano sees chibitalia and holy roman empire hanging out, he doesn't like the idea of that but seeing chibitalia happy and not alone anymore reassured him. Then he saw how broken Chibitalia was when Holy Roman Empire left, he was so angry at him for leaving his younger brother. And then many decades later, he saw how happy Italy was again, but he saw Germany, who looks exactly like Holy Roman Empire, he decided to tore them apart so if Germany leaves again, Italy won't be heartbroken as much as he did when Holy Roman Empire left

I love how Germany isn’t even bothered by him he doesn’t retaliate or anything. He just lets him be, in the mentality that one of them has to be the sane one and he figured it won’t be Romano. Just let’s him rant and be like okay

I didn't even watched Hetalia (yet) and I don't know much about the history between Italy and Germany but from the random clips I have watched so far about North Italy and Germany, I guess it's the classic "My crush's brother/sister hates me for no reason and act like a bitch to me" relationship between Germany and South Italy

There are historical reasons for that: Italy have been united for a very little time and southern italy was poor and wanted for Italy to finally care about their own businesses but northern Italy always ignored it and fanced Germany instead so southern italy was already a bit jealous of their relationship because it was left alone (the strong Italian emigration to America etc was from people of the south). Then there was fascism and war and southern Italy was against it especially because Nazi Germans did many bad things in southern italy even when the countries were allied, that's the reason why Naples (a southern italian city) was the first European city to rebel and get the Nazi and fascist occupation out of the city and also the reason why americans were welcomed to southern Italy and there was very little resistance to them -if at all-. So that's the reason why romano is showed to be both jealous and scared of Germany

I love all of Germany and Romano's interactions, the way Romano is always so sassy and Germany be like "U underestimate my pampering" The chap where Germany cleans up Romano's room and when he is done romano mess it up again so he can piss of Germany but then Germany was like "HUH, dis is nothing compared to what I go through everyday (talking about EU)" And the car scene too 🤧🤧 I love them both my goodness

@@ninarances9074 i feel like it makes sense in the context of the seasons though. Germany says this line in the 1st season where the setting is ww2. It makes sense for germany to be racist towards jews in this regatd by making that statement. Plus every season after that he dosent say or do anything racist from that point on and any mention of the holocaust brings him shame now (like in the first episode he tells the other countries to not bring up what he did, and every episode after that was just watching the events that led up to that conference.)
