Taylor and Tyler ... Thank you for these wonderful lessons about the writings of Paul! I have learned two amazing things from this video: 1) that it's by God's faith in us that we receive salvation. 2) By coincidence, my personal reading of the Book of Mormon, I started on Mosiah:2 - King Benjamin's address - when I first heard this video. I am stunned by the similarities between these two. I would like to add that all those medieval monks who kept the writings of the apostles and the other content of the Holy Bible, Martin Luther and the other reformists wouldn't have had anything to reform and Joseph Smith would not have had a Bible to read from and we would not know who Jesus was and is. I am thankful for all those unheralded monks and good people who, throughout the centuries, kept the gospel as they had it alive, nourishing the seeds that would then sprout the Reformation and then the Restoration without even a glimmer of the glorious outcome of what we enjoy today! Talk about a view of eternity! God's hand has clearly been nudging the best people along the path that would bring to pass His purposes. Thanks so much for all the little spiritual nudges you give to us all.

We have all a natural side to us. We all compare, show pride and are selfish. The release from this is only when we humbly go to the God that gave us life that we can be forgiven. We need to think and help one another, service is the antidote for pride. Serving the God that gave us life is a privilege. Actions speak louder than words. It is all about becoming more Christlike.

Wonderful to point out God is faith-ful and we are first saved by God’s faithful keeping of God’s covenants with us! Then: No grace without faith. Romans 5.1-3. Faith cannot be divorced from faithfulness. Hebrews 11. Christ worked, and so do those who love (have faith in) Him. John 14.15. There is no grace v. works issue. The question hides how we access grace. We do that by faith. Faith leads to baptism, and receiving the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands by one sealed up to this power (D&C 76.51-70. The apostates hid the doctrine of Christ. Satan won by making believers argue about grace v. works when the question is about faith to access grace (back to Romans 5.1-3) Thank You!!

Like Paul King Mosiah also explained the power of Christ's grace to change us from the "natural man" to a "saint" becoming sanctified having no more desire to sin. It is then our divine natures are made manifest becoming new creatures in Christ prepared to confidently stand before Him and receive His loving embrace. Oh what a joyous reunion!

Thank you, Taylor, for sharing that personal story. For some reason when i see that earthly parenting angle, i connect better to how my small acts can actually please my heavenly parents. I also liked Tyler's brief case analogy- amusing yet so true. I think what i have felt so much in the past was i had to "earn" valiance to receive a higher kingdom, but it's more like desiring to be more like him to freely receive more of his grace. This video is one i hope to share with my brother who is a Methodist. I just love the clarity it shines on grace and works being "part of the same coin." We don't need to choose a side. Good stuff! Superb presentation! I am enjoying Paul and his teachings so much, I dont want it to end. I love what Bro Griffin said @ 37.00 about changing how we think and see things. I know I have needed Heavenly Father's help with this many times. Many times I have asked him to step in and take over. It's a challenge to solely navigate the body and mind. But, I have felt Heavenly Father and the spirit helping me with this, and I have seen the change. I know the natural man can be changed for the better because of my own dealings with the spirit. I love what Bro Halverson said about an unprofitable servant. The explanation was so profound, and I love what he said about proceeding from grace to grace, and also how grace is freely given. I really enjoyed the example provided of the children cleaning the house. I found it easier to grasp the concept with this example. I also love what was said about focusing on reciprocating our relationship with the Saviour and not on the debt. That insight has helped me to see it from Paul's perspective. Thank you so much for the beautiful insights and lessons Bretheren. I needed some words of comfort today and I got exactly that. God bless you ❤.

During your discussion of Luther's background in such close timing to Jewish Christians and the Law, Law of Moses I suddenly had a thought. Luther could have looked at the law as discussed by Paul here and in Galatians as the dead works of the Catholic Church. Indulgences, trying to pray people out of purgatory - a counterfeit of temple work for the dead. Confession without repentance. Reading scripted prayers instead of praying. These things had no power. Forms of godliness without the power thereof - JSHistory 1:19.

Christ's grace is a free gift for all. When he says "Take my yoke upon you and learn of me", it is his grace, his love to which he is referring. He is saying "study the scriptures, keep the commandments, feed the hungry, love your enemies, pray, keep the Sabbath day holy, etc. These are our responsibilities. They are the things, the works he expects of us. If we don't follow Him, our works alone will not save us. We must go to Him for guidance and work our tails off as He directs. Our works, when directed by our Savior, are critical for our salvation.

I don’t understand that if everything we do as members (callings, tithing, study, etc.) aren’t thing to qualify us to live in His presence but to make connections with Him, then what’s the point of making covenants if that’s what’s required to live in the highest level of the celestial kingdom? Or faith without works?

Did I miss something? I’ve watched almost all of your videos over the past few years and really appreciate your insights, but in this lesson you seem to conveniently skip over verses 26-27. Is that how it is now? We can’t talk about anything in the way it should be talked about? We don’t call sin a sin? We skip over things? Like I said, maybe I missed it but I’m a bit disappointed here that this was not discussed.

This issue has infested our culture to the point that very few, even members of the Church of Jesus Christ, have not the courage to be a voice and take a stand against this perversion. We are gripped with fear of being called a name or being deemed judgmental or contentious or unkind. It's too bad, our silence leaves our young people feeling alone in their true convictions and are finding the adults in their life, unable to help them find their way through the great mist of darkness. I look forward to the great and terrible fall of the great and spacious building.

In my opinion I don’t think that the objectives of these well-thought out and well- prepared lessons is to provide a forum to discuss/debate the merits of any particular doctrine to which we in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints adhere. Rather, Taylor and Tyler are helping us to understand the scriptures in a more meaningful way, bearing in mind that the Bible has been translated many different ways throughout it’s history, as well as the fact that many scriptures, particularly in the Bible, are difficult to interpret and understand. The two verses to which you refer are very clear and concise as to what sin is being condemned. There is no need to further explain the doctrine or law that is violated in this setting. A deep discussion of that law would take hours and I don’t have the impression that this is a discussion format. We are being further tutored on who Jesus Christ is, who our Heavenly Father is and how we can become more like them as we more clearly understand and embrace our covenants which we have entered into with them. My point being that I don’t think there was any attempt to consciously “skip over” or evade anything during this presentation.

II wonder if it would be helpful to all Latter Day Saints and others, to discuss what it means to be "saved". That is old language borrowed from the Reformation. We still use a great deal of that language and may be a disservice to younger generations. Much of that language is loaded culturally and linguistically - such as "sin" . What is the real essence of these words? When you reference the Hebrew, it is much clearer and nuanced. I do appreciate that when you use that to explain gospel concepts. Thank you so much for these lessons!

@@joannenardoni17in Noah's case he was most assuredly saved by works (obedience to a commandment). Grace is what Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ for us that we cannot do for ourselves, ie. resurrection and forgiveness of sins.

@@timothyhudson7999 It was through grace that he was commanded to build a ship and shown how and that his family went along with it I suppose. I wonder where he got the strength and all the materials.

I love everything you do. I just wanted to give some feedback on what I think would help with the broadcast. Taylor's voice is a lot softer and hard to understand if you don't turn up your device. Then having to turn it down again when Tyler speaks. Please look and see what you can do to balance the volume of both voices! The music at the end makes you jump because it is so loud. I have really contemplated whether to say something or not because I love the program. Keep it up.

In verse Romans 3:26 where Martin Luther added the word "alone" with his writing instrument: Paul wrote "............. without the deeds of THE LAW". So, we are still taling about the deeds (or works) of the LAW of Moses that the Jewish Christians were still hung up on; that Tyler talked about at the start of this presentation. Paul wasn't talking specifically about GOOD DEEDS in general? Right?

In other words in Romans 3: 13-20, Paul exagerates to prove a point. That is a style of writing also, to give emphasis on something so people will not misunderstand.

Well in James 2:19 " ................. the devils also believe, and tremble". Who would I believe ? James the brother of Jesus or someone from the 1500 who was "suffering" from Scrupulosity? Just saying. Thank you for the instruction.

Too bad you were not able to address the elephant in the room: the abomination of homosexuality. It would be nice if our brave seminary teachers would address this as it is such a big challenge today, and our youth need to understand that repentance from this sin is essential if you want to keep God's commandments.

I agree except that there seems to be more to this issue nowadays. We have such a thing as hormone disruptors found in plastics that can feminize a frog! We need to be careful how we judge.

The problem is, is that I continue to sin and don't seem to change. So if we don't change then we are not forgiven. It's tough and I don't get it.

Instead of fully embracing one or the other, I wish we could admit that the interplay between grace and works is complicated and possibly impossible to even put into words. I’ve always thought a strength of the churches doctrine is idea that we have free agency and we are being tested on how we use it. Frankly I think it is the only valid response to the problem of evil. Taylor and Tyler I’m sure are phenomenal people and have provided some great insights, but the way the doctrine was taught in this lesson was misleading. I’m curious how they will cover James 2 and Revelations 20.

Are we saved by grace or works? Yes. You cannot be saved without grace. But grace cannot save you if you refuse to be obedient to God's commandments. While repentance is possible, those who are willfully disobedient to God's commandments will find themselves on the left hand of God no matter how much they have pronounced with their lips the name of Jesus. As Jesus said in Matthew 7:21, "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven."
