My background is very much the same as yours, even my age. We were taught by bigoted people that it was the black people's fault we didn't have anything. My family members still think the same way. Prejudice runs deep in our past. Naturally, the view is going to come to mind. It's just our responsibility, since we now know better, to keep it in check. She simply did not understand me. She just saw my skin color, and took her anger out on me at the time. No doubt, she was having more issues then race.
