+LDNballer I also agree with you. A very intel lenient and interesting woman. I actually think she's the kind of person I would get on well with. She's friendly, interesting, and doesn't suffer fools. I said it straight after the Holm fight that her coach should be fired immediately. Allowing your fighter to walk onto straight lefts...what??

Boy, was she right about everything.It's a damn shame Ronda didn't listen to her mom because I think if she would have studied under a legit world class striking coach like Javier Mendez or Freddie Roach she would have been untouchable.

so basically she believes that if Edmond truly had Ronda's best interest at heart, he would encourage her to visit and learn from lots of different camps. so she believes Edmond views Ronda as his meal ticket. she's improving because she's gifted, but he's actually holding her back. when doing Judo, Ronda trained at 5 different schools each week. she thinks Ronda should take a similar approach to MMA training to truly be the best she could possibly be. i can respect that.

+TheWanderer Interesting to watch McGregor rip on Dillashaw on TUF for moving to Colorado and out of Faber's influence at Team Alpha Dog-that is what Dr. DM is advocating Ronda do- be McGregor's version of a "snake in the grass".
@potent7444
@potent7444 8 жыл бұрын
+Cuivre Dillashaw is called a snake in the grass because he moved to a gym that has beef with team alpha male, and Urijah Faber had spent so much time helping Dillashaw out, even fought in a different weight class so they wouldn't have to fight. Visiting other gyms and training there is definately a great idea, you can only learn so much at one gym.

+TheWanderer The problem with that is in Joe Rogan's Podcast, where he interviewed Ronda and Ed, he went over the fact that Ronda trains in many different disciplines, with many different coaches, and he arranges these sessions. I guess she hasn't discussed that with him, and she missed the podcast

I told Dr. DM about the Joe Rogan podcats with Ronda and Edmond. She replied to me that she could only watch it for two minutes before she had to turn it off. I thought she may have been digusted with Rogan's lipstick comment, but it likely the fact that Edmond was on it. She obviously hates him with the white hot intensity of a thousand burning suns. That degree of hatefulness seems out of balance with what we see with Ronda, her results, and her good relationship with Edmond. Maybe her having a good relationship with Edmond is WHY Dr. DM expresses her hatred about him so much.
@EvanderSmart
@EvanderSmart 8 жыл бұрын
+Cuivre Let's say ed is full of it, and isn't taking her to different coaches to learn different disciplines. The guy is a hell of a boxing coach, and she's a legendary student, so you can see how great a striker she is now. He made her a killer standing up. She won her last fight in 30 seconds standing up, so he's earned his keep already. He did say she does 575 punches with weights for ten 30minute rounds, which is not humanly possible, but he has helped her become much more than just The Queen of Armbar

After UFC 207 Dr. DeMars' analysis looks even more insightful. Rousey was even less prepared for Nunes than she was for Holm. In both cases she demonstrated almost no defensive striking skills (head movement, angles, etc.) going into a fight with a skilled opponent with reach and power. Had Rousey taken her mother's advice she might have found a boxing coach who could remediate her shortcomings. Instead, she stayed with a head coach who told her she was a better striker than Holly Holm (a delusional claim that has been publicly crushed twice now). If she doesn't immediately retire, she should finally TAKE her mother's advice....as the old saying goes, "Mother Knows Best."
@EPSTomcat11

Couldn't have said it better. That coach is a complete and utter charlatan. Ronda is in a tough position now. Retire and tarnish her legacy as a "quitter", or find a new camp and ditch her coach which goes against her loyalty to him.
@coldsteel5747
@coldsteel5747 7 жыл бұрын
I agree after seeing this insider info from the mother I can now see how rousey was deceived by the coach and the loss is largely his fault but rouseys loyalty likely is her greatest failure. she could not and did not evolve and better herself because of her loyalty to a failing coach that misinformed her then when she failed she failed big. but who knows maybe nunes hits so hard and is so knowledgeable about rousey that she should not have fought nunes again.

Its not many women with head movement & angles & definitely defense she needed a rounded training camp to teach her to be a full mixed martial artist not mayweather Ronda was destroying women with extreme ease with punches knees & armbars what is there to learn seeing that holm was just a good matador perfect situation for her to beat ronda at that time shes never looked that way before & after Nunes just hits hard & destroyed tate & budd the same way

Well, Ronda's mom was right. Ronda was ill-prepared to face Holm. Her strategy was shit...and that falls on the Trainer. From the looks of it, it seemed like she was unaware that she was facing a left-handed fighter until the actual fight. The fight wasn't even close prior to the knockout. Bad training.
@LateNightBarFight
@LateNightBarFight 8 жыл бұрын
+CHANNEL3KZfaq Holly Holm is right-handed and fights Southpaw. Ronda is left-handed and fights orthodox. She certainly didn't seem prepared to fight a Southpaw. In her team's defense. I think Ronda uses punches to get into the clinch, not to actually technically strike with someone. She doesn't know technical striking and since she wants to play to her strength, her plan was probably just to do what she always does, pressure her opponent and use her jab to punch her way into the clinch and then control from there. Problem is, that strategy won't work against a skilled striker because a skilled striker will maintain distance, keep Ronda on the outside and keep Ronda on the end of their punches. Which is what Holly did. Ronda can't execute her grappling if she can't get inside. Either way though, even the 3 or 4 times Ronda did get inside and get a clinch, Holly was big and strong and prepared and won all the clinch exchanges so the true reveal is that Ronda has clearly been fighting smaller, weaker, less-skilled opponents and since you're only as good as your opponent this shows that Ronda isn't as good as the media made her out to be.
@CHANNEL3YOUTUBE
@CHANNEL3YOUTUBE 8 жыл бұрын
+LateNightBarFight Holm was definitely more skilled than Rousey's previous opponents and certainly was the stronger person between her and Rousey. Not to mention, she had a good plan and executed it perfectly. So, I think we agree there. I disagree when you say that it's somehow not her camps fault that she wasn't as good as people thought. I believe that how good an athlete is or isn't greatly depends upon their training. That night, the better prepared/trained fighter won the day...and I don't think Rousey's camp gets a pass. It certainly didn't appear that Rousey was going against an already established plan that her camp had. if so, they definitely didn't express it in the corner.

That's ridiculous. Ronda's stand up has progressed in leaps and bounds under her coach back from the time when Ronda had no stand up whatsoever. You just can't put someone on par with a champion boxer/kick boxer in that short a period of time. That's not her coaches fault, that's just got to do with how long it takes to reach that level of skill. When you listen to Ronda's mother talk you get a notion of where some of the more abrasive ideas of Ronda's comes from. Her mom seems to be of the idea that the moment Ronda walked into Glendale fight club, the fawning and special attention should have begun immediately, rather than taking a couple of months to look Ronda over as a prospect. Her past success as a judoka aside, a couple months (8 weeks) is a very reasonable amount of time for him to look Ronda over and judge if they could make a successful team around her. We see this all the time with parents. Daughter is the light of the world to mom, so mom can't understand when others don't see the daughter as the light of the world too. Because there is a lot more than being a former bronze medallist that goes into being able to successfully team up with someone. Are they able to work well with others? Do they bring anything toxic or negative into the environment? Like maybe a mother standing on the sidelines saying the coach is a fucking asshole and she'd like to run him over? And who expects everyone to fall all over themselves to help her daughter the moment she walks through the door. I can actually see her coaches side in this despite the fact he's not commented on Ronda's mom's statements.

Zigz Zagz Didn't read cause it's way too much, but the first line, and come on, her stand up progressed leaps and bounds?? HAHAHA from what? slapping?? she is literally below amateur in striking, her last fight with Bethe was sloppy enough to tell, basically the same punches you see ratchet girls throw on the streets..

cp three Don't play the fool. Leaps and bounds from "when she started." She was a flailer who had no idea what to do with her hands in her first UFC fight. She's made a lot of progress from there. Not enough composure when she got hit. A stupid game plan but she was able to win a fight by KO, in her two fights previous to this loss when all she had was a top rate judo game and a great armbar.
@BBBYpsi
@BBBYpsi 8 жыл бұрын
+Zigz Zagz A big part of boxing is movement this includes foot work lateral movement & head movement which Ronda has zero of. He taught her how to throw a few punch combos & that is it. Her coach needed a different strategy then to have her stand up & box with a 19 time boxing champion not to mention also a very skilled kick boxer. This is all striking which Ronda had no chance to do this in a fight with Holly Holm. Ronda's mother recognized this & voiced her opinion which was ignored & she was right. Her mother is very smart woman & seems to be a philosopher of sorts also. Lets just say all edmounds top fighters have lost recently via knock out. His team cannot get a win lately & maybe there is something to what her mother says.

RRRRIIIGHHTTTT... I know the struggle, I grow up poor as fuck. Single parent home, and my mom was an immigrant. Before you start on immigrants, unless you're a native to what ever country you're in, I don't want to hear it. I finished high school with duel honors, while wrestling, and working 36 hours a week. Done martial arts on and off since I was eight. Been in the military, law enforcement and taught it in police and corrections academies, and now work as a computer tech while getting my certifications to be a network administrator. I can understand her views. You should live up to your potential and work hard. If you work at McDonalds as a kid while going to school, that's understandable. But if you're in your 30's and doing nothing, I don't want to hear your mouth about how your life sucks. As far as civilization goes, look at your history. It's made of killing, slaves, manipulation, and beating the other man done to get what you want. Do some reading. I've fought and protected my share of people. But you tell me that you love and think every one is valuable. Then go hug and kiss a drug addict on the street that's shit and pissed themselves. Those are people that have fucked around they whole lives and been able to do so due to the mercy of people that support them. So go hug a bumb and give them a kiss, not someone asking for money. A true bumb with shit and piss on them, that's high, drunk, or hung over. Tell me how you feels.

She explained how she was visiting Edmond's gym for months and he just fucked her off and ignored her, it wasn't until she actually quit and had to return for her gloves that they started speaking. She literally had to force him to pay attention to her, he eventually did. Coincidentally it was the same time women's MMA started becoming mainstream. I believe he does care for Ronda, now... But it's quite clear that he values the attention of being her coach more. A lot of people think he's in love with her, I'm not 100% sold on that. But can you fucking imagine what kind of monster she'd be if she started training with Duane Ludwig full time? Or at a camp like Tristar or Jackson's? Sheeeesh...*

Ronda's mom is the shit! She needs to get through to her daughter. Her daughter was not prepared for that fight. Everybody is talking about no head movement, but it starts with your feet first. 1. Absolutely no footwork. Should of been circling to her opponents weak hand, using faints. 2. Standing straight up, knees locked. You cannot stand straight up like a skyscraper when your opponent is quicker and has better reflexes than you. You are not in a good posture to move in and out at an elite level 3. No understanding of spacing. Your in with the best striker in the game, that you should know, uses effective length and leverage on her punching and you decide to stand on the end of those punches. Be all the way out of range or in range where you can do what you need to do 4. Not a proper game plan. She should of known that nobody can fuck with this Girl in the first round. She's a strong front runner, stay away from her power and wrestle her as much as possible to wear her down

@Prodigyz8
@Prodigyz8 8 жыл бұрын
+Cuivre You don't need specifics. This woman is no dummy. Also she pretty much said the fact that he wouldn't give Ronda the time of day for months. All I needed to hear was that slimeball trying to take even an ounce credit for Rondas success on the JRE.
@cuivre2004
@cuivre2004 8 жыл бұрын
Prodigyz8 He has the right to give himself some credit. She's been working with him for years,especially for striking and arranging sparring partners and the gym itself. What coach wouldn't? And if Edmund is SO terrible, what would Dr. DM have to say about Ronda's opponents coaches? Are they SUPER-terrible?
@Prodigyz8
@Prodigyz8 8 жыл бұрын
+Cuivre The point is it doesn't matter who Ronda's striking coach is. You can very easily argue she could be getting more valuable training elsewhere. Ronda will find success in anything she does.
@cuivre2004
@cuivre2004 8 жыл бұрын
Prodigyz8 Edmund admits Ronda would be a champ no matter where she started in MMA-I never saw him claiming credit, although it is his right to (to a small extent) by being her gym owner and head trainer. If Ronda's mother had her way, she wouldn't do ANY striking, going by her post-fight comments and elsewhere.
@kesi3606
@kesi3606 8 жыл бұрын
+Cuivre its simple, she hates him ONLY because he ignored Ronda when she first came to the gym. I wouldn't call him a horrible coach considering Ronda can't possibly do better then she has. She has finished all of her fights and even got a 34 sec KO in her last fight against a decent striker. She is pretty much as close to perfection as any fighter has ever been, so for Ronda's mom to say that he isn't a good coach is way off base. Its like if a student gets 100% on a test and the parents say "the teacher is horrible. my kid could do better with another teacher." The mom needs to chill. She's still in 'insane' mode from her judo days.

As much as I agree that I think Ronda's attitude was influenced by her mother I think she also started to think that her accomplishments were her own and not thanks to the advice and the people she surrounded herself with. Her mother has earned the right to talk the way she does from her experiences and accomplishments and the ability to recognise things that aren't working and improving from them.

I'm sorry but Ronda did not "CREATE A FIELD THAT DIDN'T EXIST BEFORE HER" women were fighting in MMA long before Ronda arrived, Gina Carrano was fighting ten years before Ronda, and there were all women's organizations in Japan since the mid 90's / so women's MMA existed for at least 20 years before Ronda. This is a perfect example of giving Ronda credit where she doesn't deserve it.
@ForeverChiTonight
@ForeverChiTonight 8 жыл бұрын
She def deserves it. People who don't even watch mma want to see Ronda fight. Why? Because of her, there is a women's division. Carano didn't change Dana's mind. Ronda did. Just because women were doing it doesn't mean they made a break through there is a difference.
@RNicolasRuvalcaba
@RNicolasRuvalcaba 8 жыл бұрын
+ForeverChiTonight All the hype around Ronda being the deciding factor in Dana’s decision to have women in the UFC is a myth. ZUFFA was buying out their competition, they bought Pride, WEC and Strikeforce. They bought Strikeforce in 2011, it just so happened that Strikeforce had women fighters on their roster. The decision wasn’t specifically to sign Ronda Rousey as much as it was to give all the women as a whole the boot or not. Dana was there when Ronda beat Miesha in the final Strikeforce title fight and Dana saw an opportunity, from that moment on the hype train started - it started with giving Ronda a championship belt before her first fight in the UFC. Ronda could have lost early on stopping the hype train but the level of recognition she received with each win was pretty absurd in my opinion, I heard someone refer to it as "Promotional Malpractice”. This and her horrible behavior has a lot to do with the current backlash because true MMA fans weren’t buying the whole “most dominate athlete ever!!!” bullshit, clearly Holly wasn’t buying it either. Most people don’t think she’s a loser because she finally lost, it’s because she was so intoxicated with her own celebrity that she was starting to believe that there wouldn’t be any price to pay for her shitty, disrespectful attitude..

Interesting to hear about the coach and she is completely right. I understand Ronda trusted him because she achieved victories by doing the same thing over and over (if it was due to him or not I cant say). Although she stopped developing as a fighter. For example Ronda completely lacks kicking and efficient movement standing up. That is the reason why Holly could evade her so easily and she could not catch her with her punches. Then of course we cant forget that Holly is extremely good standing up. Will be interesting to see if Ronda stays with the same coach, which I hope she doesnt. I could arrange her a standup coach that is a lot better than that guy and for free, just to make her realize and understand the standup parts she is missing! One more thing about her mother that I fully agree with and that is you should train as you fight, meaning use very little pads and bags and focus on the sparring and sparring like training because that is what will happen in the ring. Also one more thing, for all people training on higher level, never ever start a punch or kick from stand still, do it while you are moving just as you do when you are fighting. Many people are great at hitting bags but when sparring nothing works and that is due to hitting and kicking from static position! All from me, have a nice day!

I have watched endless videos and observed that certain points of what Ronda's mom says are true, that she has natural god- given talent and could have succeeded in any number of environments. Edmond was not selected merely for his credentials but also for the way his personality interacts with Ronda. Apparently what Edmond does is provide a emotionally conducive environment where Ronda thrives. Ronda described herself as prone to bouts of crying in the past, and in one interview, she described the gym as her refuge from emotional problems. Edmond is sort of that calm, positive, tranquil, and supportive personality whereas her mom was anxious and worried, prone to arguing on the phone, and pushing her to go to college on a sports scholarship. I think R0nda and her mom are perhaps like two north ends of the magnet, and Edmond more the south end.
