I don't understand what's so crazy about this. I'm a programmer, my back is like the weakest thing you can find on this planet, and yet I can easily do a single rep like he does with 80 Kg. I might even be able to do more, I don't know, that's the maximum weight of the squat in the gym I go to. In other words, with a weak body and almost zero squat training, I'm almost as good as this dude, so what's all this hype about ? Anyone can do that. If he was doing 8 reps in a row with that same weight, that would be great, but he's only doing maxes here.

His coach's name is Sanjeev and also my friend and he deserves recognition too as he has relentlessly and passionately worked with the rondel and his other athletes for a long time. And he is 24 I think. @DeadSpacer100
@DeadSpacer100 3 жыл бұрын
@@Jeneric81 what do you mean he benches like everyone else? Do you even watch other peoples SET UP before the touch the bar? Look at tyler atwoods benchpress setup and tell me its the same as this. And no im not talking about the armlength/rom. Just about the setup which leads to a cringe benchpress form
@Jeneric81
@Jeneric81 3 жыл бұрын
@@DeadSpacer100 The arch is a byproduct of creating maximum pressure from the feet and trying to get as favorable of a shoulder position as possible. Rondel’s setup doesn’t have any differing purpose from Atwood’s. If Rondel could get the same arch and shoulder position as Atwood he would. He’s an actual competitor, not a internet gym bro.
@DeadSpacer100
@DeadSpacer100 3 жыл бұрын
@@Jeneric81 shortening the rom is not an intentional byproduct of atwoods setup? Are we just gonna act like thats not possible with the bp? I dont know why Rondel doesnt use an extreme arch (or just a slight one in general) but i respect him for that. And looking at the top comments, the majority of the people think the same way.
@Jeneric81
@Jeneric81 3 жыл бұрын
@@DeadSpacer100 I did not say it was unintentional, it is however subordinated. The arch is useless if there is no power. Clueless people think it’s just about being flexible, but that is far from the case. What they don’t realize is that benching like say an Eddie Berglund is HARDER than gym bro benching with the mythical flat back. Just getting into that position with tightness and power is harder than anything you’ve done in your life. The reason Rondel doesn’t have a bigger arch is most probably because he can’t while having as much power, which tbf isn’t unusual in heavier weight classes. But if you watch this video of Julius Maddox explaining his bench press setup ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gch5f5x3srG2YGw.html ) you’ll hear he’s trying to create as strong of an arch as possible. Rondel does the same.

Yes but there is a massive difference between a double overhand grip and a hook grip, to the tune of around 15-20% more weight lifted based on the lifter. I see that you post a few lifts yourself, give hook grip a try and let me know how you get on. takes a few months for the pain to go away in your thumb but if you can get past that you will see just how much more weight you can pull.
