They have to provide a standard. The pitcher grabs the “standard ball” then he opens his hand and holds it still. If the ball sticks to his hand for longer than 5 Mississippis, ejection and 10 games. If the ball falls, he’s free to go.

thank you for bringing up that hader is FINALLY taken care of by a team and is, thus, willing to go 2. i'm far from a fan of hader but it irks the ever living daylight out of me when people want players to risk health but not expect organisations to take the equivalent their financial risks.

I find it hard to process that Blanco is going to sit more games than all Astros from 2017 combined….. Manfred’s biggest miss of all time.

According to the 2024 MLB rules, pitchers can use rosin bags to apply rosin to their bare hands, but they cannot use the bag to dust their glove or uniform. The home team is required to provide a rosin bag before each game, and the bag should be placed on the ground behind the pitcher's plate before the game begins. So I am a Rangers fan but I don't hate the Astros. I think they are a competitive team and for the most part great rivals for us. I do think that based on the rule above, the ejection is justified. I also think that 10 games is a bit steep. They should do a first offense 1 game ejection and go from there. If he had put rosin on his non pitching arm, which he stated he did the ejection was valid bottom line....no matter which team you support.

Oh you didn’t hear. Astros can get caught cheating in the WORLD SERIES and literally get a slap on the wrist… I’m telling ya… those 1919 White Sox should’ve waited until Manfred was in charge. Their punishment would’ve been $50 and 3 Hail Mary’s.

Spin. The ball stays in your hand longer allowing for more spin which translate to better ball movement

Blanco's spin rates have been consistent all year. Including the night of this instance. Not evidence of a jump in spin for Blanco in this ejection.

There is a very simple way to solve the "Sticky stuff" problem with regards to pitching. SPEND the money (which is not a lot for the Billionaire owners of MLB) and buy adhesive loop tack machines which could be modified for MLB needs. HELLO! we are in the year 2024 and Science has progressed by leaps and bounds over the years. The very subjective non scientific feel test that is used by NON scientific umpires is just beyond ludicrous. If something like this is not implemented, it's just MLB saying, yet again, we don't care if we're fair and this is how it is. BIG SURPRISE!
