Just insane. Another slap in the face to the fans in Oakland, though they are looking more and more right without even having to say anything. Every time Fisher (and his people) opens his mouth it makes things worse. He can’t close a deal. If I’m Sacramento, I’m asking if it’s too late to back out, just to make Fisher make a long-term decision/deal already.

It does irk me that a player who gambles on games is levied a lifetime ban while owners and gms that gamble away seasons get no repercussions. Fischer is throwing away this season (and others) which tremendously effects the players that have no choice but to be on team that has control over them, but is actually rewarded by the league with increasing amounts of revenue sharing. In the NBA, owners and coaches sit players with phantom injuries all the time. At the end of the regular NFL season, some teams will tank their last game if they already have clinched certain seeding. When owners and gms offer contracts laden with incentives, how is that not the same as a player betting on parlays? If you hit X milestone, you get X amount of dollars or extra incentives. The owner/gm is incentivized both directions to first have the player meet those milestones in hope that it helps the team win more games, while secondly having the incentive to possibly sit said player so he cannot meet those milestones, ergo saving the team money. Don't tell me the integrity of the game is at stake because a player bet on games when owners and gms have been fiddling with the integrity of the game at a significantly grander scale over the last century and beyond. Essentially, shouldn't Fischer and Marcano be held to the same standards of whether or not they have affected the perceived integrity of the game?
@armychowmein80216 сағат бұрын
We have this assumption that owners are completely incentivized to win and thus the competitive integrity is not compromised at that level. Instead, reality shows us that sometimes, owners decide that there exist moments where not giving their best efforts toward winning is advantageous to themselves (not necessarily the players, fans, or affiliates). Some owners have a long history of tanking (Fischer, for example) but some teams will do it just to gain a momentary advantage for future seasons. These decisions by owners affect not just single games, but entire seasons and potentially entire careers of players. A player could bet millions of dollars and I still feel like it would be barely a drop in the pond relative to the gambling in the billions done by owners, every day, every season.

Just more of John Fisher's ulterior motives SMH... Thank you for keeping the conversation going because it's important what's happening here. To folks who seem annoyed that the topic keeps coming up, we're sorry. We wish our stadium was being constructed at Howard Terminal as we speak and we had zero gripes. Fisher wasn't open to investors to close the less than $100 million dollar gap in Oakland yet he's entertaining offers in Vegas! Had politicians in Vegas known that the A's intended on playing a chunk of games elsewhere i'm sure they would've had their reservations when voting on the $380 million dollar handout but then again the public should've voted on the stadium money.

Wonder if the Guards would consider trading for an outfielder? Move freeman back to ss isn't this his natural position.

The World Series should be the team that wins the most games in each league. Figure out some tournament for the rest if you have to. 162 is long and hard, those teams that win the most should play for the most. Parody is communism, mediocrity. YOU SHOULD STEP UP NOT STEP ASIDE. GO PLAY POKER, WHERE YOU JUST GOT TO HAVE A CHIP AND A CHAIR TO PLAY.

God forbid a manager speak up about his players performance. Current baseball players are the most delicate little flowers sometimes and the media doesn't help matters. If a manager can't try to light a fire under his team then what's the point of having managers? I say just have literal babysitters instead because that's what some of these guys need and want. In four and a half or so seasons Robert has played 375 games. Jimenez in five plus seasons has played 472 games. Why are either of those guys still there? People act like Robert is this great trade chip but why would anyone want a guy that can't stay on the field? Forget Jimenez he's got one purpose year after year and that's to get on that IL ASAP. The White Sox have zero clue what they're doing and it's obvious.

McMahon is signed through 2027 and the Rockies don't want to go down that path of trading a player in the middle of his extention. Rockies are rebuilding but they need a guy like Mac to build around. Can't go completely young, plus we have no 3B prospects that are ready. Not to mention trading McMahon would anger the fanbase even more after what happened a couple years ago. Trade Rodgers, have Blackmon retire, but don't trade McMahon
