Ronnie Drew (Irish: Ránall Ó Draoi) 16 September 1934 16 August 2008) was an Irish singer and folk musician who achieved international fame during a fifty year career recording with The Dubliners. He was born in Dun Laoghaire, County Dublin.

damn I'm a 17 year old boy from the netherlands, This is the voice I grew up with. And now almost 7 years later I'm listening to the dubliners again. Regretting I never saw this legend alive. :(

All I can say that I knew Ronnie in '63 and '64 in O'Donoughue's Pub on Merrion Row. He was always nice and kind to me as was his wife Deirdre, May God rest both of them. They are ever in my prayers.

My only connection with Ronnie Drew and Luke Kelly is through KZfaq. It makes me sad that I did not see them perform. They were wonderful performers and perfect gentlemen for Ireland. I will always miss them.

The version me n me Da listened to started with This song is seven drunken nights but I’m only gonna sing foyve of them! We’d fall about laughing even before the song began. I finally read all the verses outside my dad’s care home with him and my little sister last summer…… Jesus. No wonder Ronnie was only allowed to sing five in public.
