Ronnie looked sick here. You could tell that the cancer was probably already in him and he didn't even know it until the following year. Had he gone to the doctor sooner, he might still be with us today.

I absolutely agree he could’ve been singing until he was 100 had he gotten checked out for cancer sooner . have you seen his live from radio city music hall heaven & hell album ? Even in his 60’s dio sounded amazing

When Ronnie passed away, he and Geezer Butler were best friends. However, the first time he left Black Sabbath all the guys were not on the best of terms. I remember my favorite quote from Ronnie at that time. " The only decision I really recall Geezer ever making the whole time I was in the band was to have another pint. "

Professionalism. Never talks bad about Ritche. After all playing with Ritche makes you recognised.Whoever ever played in a band with Ritche Blackmore,he'll have fame and fans will reconise him cause Ritche picks up the best vocal and musicians.

He knows Ritchie Blackmore took a risk with Dio. Just like he did with David Coverdale knows it also. Glenn Hughes has small fame with his band. But nothing compares to Deep Purple's kinda fame and audience draw. Those 3 singers are some of the best in the world. Graham Bonnet and Joe Lynn Turner are great in their own right. Let's face it Ritchie Blackmore is one of the pioneers and up there with Hendrix's top 4 or 5 in the world. He was risking his reputation with all these guys. Let's not forget Cozy Powell 🙏. Top 4 drummers in the world. All on Ritchie Blackmore's back and fame especially his reputation. He came thru with flying colors.

Great interview! I completely agree. I was listening to the rehearsals for BATM. And there is Ozzy singing his melodies that are very recognizable on the final version. I think Daisley helped arrange, wrote bass parts and lyrics. Randy wrote killer guitar parts. I'm 100 percent certain that Don wrote the intro to Crowley and the other keyboard parts. They're too harmonically advanced to be otherwise. Kerslake wrote the drum parts. They all deserve credit for what they did. The band was undoubtedly formed with the intention of Ozzy as the leader. Same as with Dio. The name Blizzard of Ozz is no different to me than Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow.

WOW, that was prophetic! Ronnie said that Jimmy Bain could be hit by an iceberg and he wouldn't go down and that he'd keep playing. Little did Ronnie know that Jimmy would DIE in his room before going onstage on the cruise ship he was supposed to be performing on.

@G L dio don't care he would take 1 song he felt strong about . Over a hundred hits by a sell out like ozzy took credit for shit he NVR fuckin did.
@blackmoonrising2334 жыл бұрын
@LiberalismIsA MentalDisorder Lol, you got that backwards. Ozzy was the one who was jealous of Dio, more specifically Dio when he was fronting Black Sabbath. Heaven and Hell outsold every single Black Sabbath album except for Paranoid and Master of Reality, and Ozzy was pretty upset that his old bandmates were doing so well without him. One time Randy Rhoads played the record during the recording sessions of one of the first two Ozzy solo records and it pissed Ozzy off. In fact, Ozzy was so bitter towards his former band mates, him and his bitch wife conspired to sabotage Sabbath's gigs in the US throughout the mid to late 80s, stating that if they dared to book Sabbath, they wouldn't get Ozzy. And to go along with what @Matthew Rogers, I doubt Dio would care about a sell out hack like Ozzy. Ronnie always stayed true to what he wanted and never followed trends for money, unlike Ozzy.
@mathautist4 жыл бұрын
I heard Dio was very close to getting Randy Rhoads as his guitarist because they both had mutual feelings on musical style; neo-classical metal, similar to Dio-era Rainbow. I think Vivian Campbell is as good as Randy.

Dont mess with the Supernatural REALM!!!☆♤☆

I dunno if you can trust what Ozzy writes in his bio... but i choose to believe it. Lee and Bob were being a pair of school girls, whispering away in their little corner about double fees and stuff, that obviously would put a strain on their entire situation, seeing as management hadn't exactly picked up the optimal amout of money from the albums just yet, but they still wanted more. The situation to me, seems to be that Ozzy and his "camp", thought of the "band" as a solo project, obviously called Ozzy Osbourne. Lee and Bob thought of it as an equal band, stemming from the very sparce days it was called "Blizzard of Ozz". (Note Ozzy's name in the bloody title of the "band") But they were HIRED by Sharon (The MANAGER of Ozzy's solo project). And then they go "this is a band" after they've been auditioned and hired, to make more money, when the original idea was always to make it an Ozzy solo project. Sure they wrote most of it, and Ozzy only wrote the melody lines and the occational lyrical bit, but still. It was always Ozzy's project, with Sharon as manager. At least that's how i see it.

The ghost story was a big shock...did that jump out of nowhere, or what? Translation: the band were all on LOTS of drugs at the time. Heh heh heh. Ah, good 'ol Dio, great storyteller. He's such a joy to just listen to. He must have had so many stories to share.

@gamesDAMNED Yeah, I'm not sure he actually means that stuff about Baal. But definitely funny...it really does say "no thanks to Baal" inside my LLRR sleeve...:p
@JC7Musica3 жыл бұрын
Why do you think he doesn’t mean what he said about Baal?
@Brandt7613 жыл бұрын
@@JC7Musica because RJD has strongly implied in a number of interviews and comments that he doesn‘t really believe in people actually experiencing supernatural stuff. He only uses it in his music because it makes for better lyrics.
@ronburnettjr41062 жыл бұрын
@@Brandt761 He has said in other interviews that he only dabbled in White magic, not Black magic. Summoning Baal is Black magic... And no, he wasn't joking around.

I think Ritchie Blackmore got him into it. Ritchie was into seances. I'm sorry, but I didn't understand what you meant when you said "No wonder he got with Kerry Livegren"... What did you mean?
@wtglb13 жыл бұрын
Interesting, for a guy who always claimed to not believe in Heaven & Hell and demons, angels, religion,ect. he speaks of encountering an evil spirit at the Chateau and years later the same spirit came up when the Dio band was doing a seance......

It's good marketing, that's all.
@LouRadon5 жыл бұрын
Good marketing? Maybe back in the 80s or earlier on in his career. Might as well say, anything he said in this interview shouldn't be taken at face value, because of "good marketing". Why try to fuss his words? Rather than try to rewrite his interview, a person could just say they don't believe in such things. He doesn't seem to fabricate much in his interviews, pretty much no bullshit responses in all of the interviews I'm watching.

It's also very interesting to hear Dio stand up for Ozzy from the complete "vocalist" perspective: 1/2 the material is from the vocalist....not matter if he wrote the lyrics or a stitch of music.

Ronnie looks nervous in this video for some reason. He keeps rubbing his face and head. I wonder if this was due to his awful illness or maybe something else because he always looked very composed in other interviews i've seen.

Ronnie James always has such insight. Yeah, I refuse to buy any album that screws over the original artist. I'm no fan of illegal downloading, but I openly illegally downloaded the early Ozzy albums that are re-made because it's like painting a mustache on the Mona Lisa: A DISGRACE! I also illegally downloaded Judas Priest's Sad Wings of Destiny because the record company screwed the band over-and they aren't getting royalties for it. And you know what? I'm glad I did it!

I fucking LOVE Ronnie and think he's a certifiable genius....but...he didn't have good ideas about his rhythm section players. I.E. Jimmy Bain is a very plain player compared to the great Bob Daisley, and Vinny Appice absolutely sucks compared to Cozy or Bill Ward...who he should held as his standard talent level to record with him.
