I interviewed Ronnie on Wsmz in Columbus Ohio one, and told him about the first time I saw him in 76 open for Grover Washington. He remembered and we went on to hang out for the next five hours. A real nice man.

When I first heard this song, it was by Grover Washington in the 70's. I thought that my life was over. Grover made me forget ihad a problem. I love the rhythm and everything about it. Ronnie Laws have the beat that make me play this song non stop .

I was just pulling up what l thought was a nice rendition by Ronnie. Didn't know I would almost pass out, glad Ronnie stepped back in when he did cause the keyboard player was doing things never seen before.

And let's not forget the super funky groove laid down by the bassist and drummer... what?! Such restraint and such funk at the same time! And the guitar solo - go Brother! So tasteful and so mean at the same time.

This is the essence of what is now being marketed as 'Smooth Jazz' - yesterday's soft rock/Pop. Ronnie is his Smooth, cool self; confident and deliberate as ever. His improvisation is as original as it is somewhat pensively probative. "Mr. Magic, where have you gone? ... you turn me on..." The guitarist's performance complements his ably with a snaptouch of Eric Gale.

This is the closest I've heard any sax player do it to the spirit of Grover Washington, Jr. Ronnie is great, what a TONE! Great band too!

Damn, I love this band. Every member brings a certain flavor. Just like a plate of soul food, you have to have all the right courses to make it a fine meal. Ronnie Laws couldn't have picked a better band to compliment his great talent.
