I absolutely love Ronnie Milsap! I tried to come up with a ‘couple’ of my favorite songs of his... but the list got really long, really fast lol Stranger In My House He Got You It Was Almost Like A Song What A Difference You Made In My Life Honestly the list just goes on and on. You listen to anything by Ronnie Milsap and you will be satisfied.

Ronnie Milsap was one of my favorite country singers back in the 70s. My favorite song by him was "Lost In The Fifties Tonight". I'm delighted to see you bring him to your audience. Thanks for this. God bless.

rejected by his own mother, put in a school for the blind (he was not completely blind) A teacher hit him ,so hard, in the head, one day in class and took the rest of his remaining vision away. Overcame obstacle after obstacle. He played and sang and became the writer of 40, count 'em 40 #1 hits!! Pitch perfect singer and amazing songwriter and musician...Ronnie is the shiznit!!!

Ronnie Milsap is not hardcore country but with 35 number one hits, you’ll need over 2 hours to listen to them all. Ronnie is candy to the ear. Going to a Ronnie Milsap concert you just sit back, relax and enjoy the music.

THANK YOU PAT! Ronnie was one of my favorite Country artist in my youth. His voice! Although, Ronnie had to fight the fat cat Nashville Ex’s to be recognized. They did not like his long hair and electric guitar in his music. He never gave up and his fans demanded his records be played. You would love: Stranger in my House

Love, love this song. I’m a “rocker “ at heart, but always loved him. I don’t live very far from The Great Smoky Mountains. This chain of mountains are in Eastern Tennessee and North Carolina. We vacationed there, when I was a child. They’re beautiful.

Debbe Sumner, hey! I live in North Georgia, but it’s like an 1 1/2 or 2 hour trip. We did The Cherokee Indian reservation and Gatlinburg every summer. We have family in Lenoir City, TN so we could kill 2 birds with one stone. Nice to make your acquaintance.

Lisa Michelle and Debbe Sumner. I live further south around columbus Ga. I have spent so much time in Townsend Tn and Cades Cove that I feel like a Tennessee native. When God finished with his seven day creation, he looked around and said, "There needs to be a piece of heaven on earth. I think i'll put it here and call it the Great Smokie Mountains." Well at least that is the rumor. Peace.

Gordon Duke very nice to meet you. Wonderful finding others who have something in common. I’m a 4th generation native and I always say I’ll never leave my mountains. They truly are spectacular. Cade’s Cove is my own fave. Got a question for you. Have you noticed that in Cade’s Cove, if you stop and get out and if there is very little traffic/people around that the silence is deafening? It has always been wonderfully strange for me to hear that deep, sweet silence. I wish you and yours well and you never know. We might cross paths some day in the Cove. Take care. 😊

I seen Ronnie in concert in the 1980's. While in the middle of his concert he got on top of his piano and sang and then HE JUMPED OFF! he finished the song and then walked to the edge of the stage. Everyone was afraid he would fall off the stage but he just laughed and told us all that there was a single fishing line around the edge of the stage, about a foot high , that we could not see but it let him know when to stop. what a great concert.

Ronnie is one of the classic country singers from the 1970s. I grew up listening to his music along with Charley Pride, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Crystal Gayle, and so many others. I second the recommendation for Ronnie’s “Stranger in My House”.

In middle East Tennessee is so humid that it looks like there is smoke on the mountains almost every morning. That is where the name comes from. The Great Smoky Mountain National Park is the most visited National Park in the US. Mostly because it is less than 24 hour drive from most of the US's population.

I live 2hrs from the Smokey Mtns also known as the Blue Ridge Mtns and spend as much time in them as I can. The great Smokies are much, much older than the Rocky Mtns by about 455 million years. Anyone not from the U.S has probably heard of the Rockies out west, but our Blue Ridge Mtns AKA The Great Smokey Mtns deserve equal recognition. If your ever in the U.S anywhere in the SE, it would be well worth your time to set aide time for a road trip along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The music I grew up with. Ronnie was always one of my favorites, and this is my favorite. I have no idea how a blind person can learn piano and know where their hands go! There are so many great examples like him and Ray Charles. Thanks for this reaction, you got a new sub!

As a person from East Tennessee (I live just outside of Knoxville) it is always a good thing to hear from people outside of the USA just to remind me we are not the center of the universe! :) Knoxville is the third largest city in Tennessee, and Gatlinburg (where the truck driver in the song was heading) is a small tourist town on the border of the Smokey Mountain National Park. And yes, it rains here. A lot.

Ronnie also covered Any Day Now which was originally done by Elvis. I’m sure you are familiar with Dolly Parton, she grew up in the Great Smokey Mountains and even has a theme park close to where she grew up. Dollywood has been very popular since the opening in the mid80’s.

The Smokey Mountains are an official rain forest. It rains a lot, and he was comparing his excessive crying to the plethora of rain in those mountains. We live in Alabama but are still considered part of the foot hills of that area. We have probably had 15+ inches of rain here in Feb. Huge numbers of Scottish people settled in the Smokey and Appalachian chain of mountains.

I am one of those people that told you about Mr. Milsap. A North Carolina native & even before I knew his story I thought he was amazing and one of my favorites. I think I left a huge description of his life, which was rare tough. And yes, he is blind.. He is singing of Knoxville, Tennessee, but the Smoky Mountains are in Tennessee & North Carolina. Tennessee is a bordering state with us & where they border each other, the Smoky Mountains run over the border.

One day when he went to school as a little boy, some other child had done something that the teacher decided to discipline for. She beat the other child. Ronnie jumped into the middle to try to help the child and teacher beat him so badly that it damaged his eyes and left him blind. Yep, we are very proud of our Ronnie. 😊

Ronnie Milsap was born blind and shunned by his mother, who believed his blindness was punishment from God. He was raised by his grandparents, learned Braille at the age of 6, and lost the last remnant of his sight after a blow from a teacher at school.

Sorry to jump in but that is not correct, well kind of it is I suppose.. Ronnie was born blind from congenital glaucoma. His mother was ashamed of him & sent him to live with her elderly parents in the Appalachian mountain town of Meadow Branch, N. Carolina, north of Asheville, N.C. They were dirt poor. The grandparents sent Ronnie to the Governor Moorehead School for the Blind in RaleighNC and a male teacher hit Ronnie SO hard when Ronnie was taking up for another boy who had a slight bit of vision and the teacher had hit the child so hard, his coca cola bottle thick glasses flew across the floor. When the teacher hit Ronnie, he hit him in the face dislodging an eye that eventually started to deteriorate in the socket causing him to have the eye removed. Eventually, while recording the Jim Reeves tribute album (Out Where the Bright Lights are Glowing) which is a great album by the way, he had to have his other eye removed, leaving Ronnie with 2 prosthetic eyes. Ronnie Milsap, despite his total blindness has an IQ on the genius level, plays 15 different instruments and has had 40 number one songs, more than any other artist.Ronnie is now 78-years-old and on his farewell tour. He still has sold out venues wherever he goes. He is an excellent entertainer.
