Rono Head build/Time Lapse

This gorgeous plush suit was built on our blank mask, a resin head with no real form allowing us to add foam to build a shape up and blend the light weight versatility of foam with the hygiene of resin. Using the resin blank means that it was easy to make any form a moving jaw head.
The large eyes made for excellent ventilation and vision and it was fun to work in foam again. I became a resin only maker pretty early on in my sculpting career.

Admittedly we watched this in 2x :) But great job...looks like you worked on this for at least 3 different outfit changes! Watching videos like this give us a better insight into how our fabrics are utilized (even if this particular fabric is a competitors). Thank you!

At first I was confused as to why you were cutting out big sqaures around small pattern pieces- but now I realize it’s because you need the fur to all go in the same direction and not all funky?

I agree, just by hazard, do you still take commissions? like only for a head? it depends on the price and if it costs not too much maybe i could commission you like next year! They look very comfy and HQ! :D

currently we are not taking on new commissions until we can get our queue down so we probably wont be open again until mid 2024.

Hi! What an amazing video. I absolutely loved how you use needles and foam to secure your fur pieces you need to shave, it blew my mind, lol! I do wonder if you have a shaver to recommend for faux fur? I'm working on my first suit ever and have no idea where to start on looking for a good shaver 😂

Thanks we use Oster clippers and several different replacement clipper blades to get different finishes.

What is the glue you are usesing to glue the fur to the base

The paint on glue is a fabric/ carpet adhesive.

Sorry for the slow reply, I used purples from both Big Z fabrics and Howl fabrics. Not sure which one you where after so hope this helps.

There are plenty of vids on how to carve foam and I would say if you need a pattern Kloof suits has a great Canine template that I have seen others use.

what type of needle and stitches do you use on your machine?

Have a few stiches I use but with this singer machine I mostly use straight stich on the face and a zig zag stich on the cowl (neck and back of head area).
