Hi Ashley, thanks for putting this video together - I love this setup you have made. When you run the surface cleaner across roof tiles which have a very high ridge, have you encountered any problems (such as the spinning bar clipping the ridge of a tile)? If so do you have any suggestions for how this could be avoided (such as installing longer bristles to increase the distance between the surface cleaner and the tiles)? Thanks
@aemackintosh
@aemackintosh 2 жыл бұрын
Obviously just be careful on the lip of the tile as you come down from one row to the next. I wouldn’t replace the bristles round the edge with longer ones because you need the jets close to the surface so they are effective in the low dips of the tile.👍🏼

Hi Ashley. Another great video. I wondered how did you manage the waste water and slurry coming off the roof. It seemed that you had quite a lot to deal with. Also, I was wondering how you would survey a roof before cleaning, as the water could find loose tiles, and water finding its way into the loft space. It looks like an excellent way to clean the roofs though. Cheers
@aemackintosh

Yes the clean up is a big part of the job. We try to catch the worst of it with plastic sheeting below. Then we also clear out the gutters and rinse down pretty much the whole building.😃👍🏼

@@aemackintosh I am curious to read your response to the second part of the question as I have been asked to quote for the cleaning of a moss-laden bungalow roof that has >1cm gaps between the tiles. Having not ventured into roof cleaning, yet, I do not want to get my first job wrong and ruin my reputation. As an aside and rough guide, how do you charge (per m2 or per hour) and what do you charge. I am based in Cornwall, not sure that makes as as we have a broad mix of low wage earners and the idle rich down here.

Lots of sheets below? Also, I saw someone said to plug the gutters? Is that to intentionally stop moss going into the down pipe? I presume it all then falls over the gutter? 😊

@@colonynaut1627 your pressure washer goes to a foot switch then out of there with a hose through your pole.It just means you can use your pole for pressure washing and waterfed pole window cleaning. If you mount a trigger on the pole you can only really do pressure washing with it.The foot switches aren't cheap though look at q washers on KZfaq Damien has videos on the subject and can supply everything you need also AC pressure washers do kits dependent on the length of your pole. Hi, great video!! Are some customers weary of having pressure washing done on roofs because of leaks? Cracked tiles and vents.. or is this not a problem really?
@aemackintosh
@aemackintosh 3 жыл бұрын
It can dislodge loose mortar or cracked tiles, but these are is that should be addressed anyway. It is low pressure, so it won’t cause damage but not all tiles will be robust enough for this method.😃👍🏼

Thanku for the reply. That makes complete sense! The customers who would want this kind of work done would be those who would want any issues on roof fixed anyway..

Hi Ashley, I have a 4000 PSI machine at 15.2 LPM. I’m about to purchase the 12 inch Mossmatic and I have everything else you’re using here. Would you suggest I get the orifice sizes to bring this down to 3000 PSI for this setup for cleaning tile roofs with a high ridge?

Very good job mate! Im impressed about ure work and watched a ton of videos of ures. Here in sweden we got diffrent type of tiles, more curved ones. I dont know if the surface cleaner could take that but i think i ll can use a turbo nuzzle and a sturdy pole like u to tackle that problem. What do u think?😀

I never use a turbo nozzle as it’s too harsh on the tiles.

I had a prior vent duct cleaning biz and I am trying to add this to it don’t know if it be a good idea? In USA Pennsylvania it’s kinda cold to do pressure washing- I guess I can wait around and see how it goes - yes but google is kinda expensive - I used home advisor in the past but now they down the tubes - digital marketing and maybe a web domain might work ?

It will take some time for the biocides to do it’s thing, then the weather will naturally wash away the remaining dirt/biofilm. Give it a few weeks/months and it will look tons better.👍🏼

It really depends on the type of tiles on the roof, but I find that the vast majority of tiles are totally up to it and are able to be cleaned with this. I also reduce the pressure a little to be more gentle on the roof.👍🏼
