As a retired Certified Safety Professional I appreciate your presentation to the world on fall protection safety. I personally had several employees saved by proper fall protection. As a suggestion twin retractable lanyards (6ft) are available and you may find those to be much less in your way while working plus they can always be kept tight against your anchorage point which will give you a greater security. Beautiful build I love your show! Marc, Ohio USA

MCG CSP Marc another thing he needs to think about is if he does fall, he should have another person with him to help him down. If he got knocked out he could be hanging in a dangerous position for hours before his father found him. I work for a construction company and they required us to take the Oscar 30.

Here in Belgium when we build a house or cabine in your case ,as we reach the highest point of the roof in the corner of the rafters , we attached in the corner a Fresh branch whit fresh green leaves that we cut from a tree in the area. It stands upright, and we do that so that the house or cabine would be blessed and have a peaceful and long life for itself and al the occupant whit in it . And leave it for a week ore tree. Greeting, hugues

Why not anchor a zip line between the trees going across the build? Having your harness secured behind and above you would make it less intrusive, and allow you to easily transition back and fourth across your structure. Could also be a moveable anchor point for your "comealong" pulley. Worth a thought.

I was so happy to see that you purchased a harness to protect yourself. I was concerned many times. I appreciate you as a husband and father as I understand how hard it is to look after your family day in and out, so having this cabin for a break from your normal routine is very good for your mind and soul. My husband looks after me and although I know it is hard on him he doesn’t complain and still smiles and jokes with me. We are retired now which I think makes caring for our partner a little easier to bear, than when you are young, but love is a wonderful thing to give us the endurance to last the years. I pray your wife has many good days ahead and that her health continues to improve with time. God bless you and your family. Please stay safe and strong.

As someone who has used safety harnesses for years, I have discovered the glorious invention of the retractable cable "yo-yo" instead of the standard tie-off straps. They don't get in the way because they retract and extend as you move around. Drastically reducing the burden of moving your tie-off point as frequently. Not sure if you would use it enough to justify buying one but to anyone reading the comments that uses harnesses on a regular basis, it's great.

Nice job on the rafters and sheeting. I'm so glad you're using a safety harness now. It also was a big concern of mine. You should only disconnect one hook at a time. Tie off before you step out onto a fall area and always have one hook attached prior to removing the other hook. Had a friend, Burt a retired Navy Chief, who fell 20 ft onto his back. He got blessed in that he wasn't permanently hurt. Another Friend, AL K. had a ladder ship sideways and dropped him about 9 ft and broke his ankle at 90 degrees. It had to be fused and is a constant irritant to him. Yep take care of yourself brother, like you said it only takes one minor slip to end in a serious injury or death. Keep up the fine work, it's looking great. Tell the Mrs. we're praying for her and hope she gets well soon. Best Wishes and Blessings. Keith Noneya

I take away many lessons from your videos beyond the obvious mechanical aspects of it; patience, perseverance, determination, commitment to family, appreciation and respect for nature, self sufficiency. These are many of the qualities so lacking in people today. Keep your videos coming.

Funny you mention binge watching, your playlist is what I have watched constantly for a few weeks, nearly at current day. Love your work

I'm so happy you got the harness. My son used to be an ironworker, working high steel. One day he had a fall, he got lucky and was able to grab a cable on the way down, luckily wearing leather gloves. He ended up swinging like a pendulum halfway between floors. He yanked his back and was bruised up his thighs where he was hitting against the floor level. He was pulled up and only off work for a few weeks. It could have been so much worse. Luckily I didn't hear about it until after. Take care and stay safe.
