How to Paint Blue Power Swords

A short guide, showing how I painted the blue power swords for my Grey Knight Kill Team. I've tried to paint these in the past, but not had results that I have been this happy with.
Written instructions:
-Basecoat with Thousand Sons Blue.
-Paint/glaze half of each side of the blade with Temple Guard Blue.
-Glaze Gauss Blaster Green toward the tip, furthest from the Thousand Sons Blue.
-Glaze Incubi Darkness on the opposing side, running in the opposite direction.
-Enhance this shadow by glazing Abaddon Black towards the tip.
-Edge highlight carefully with Gauss Blaster Green. I like to add a few scratches to the blade here too.
-Selectively edge highlight tips and corners with a pure white. If you added scratches to the blade in the last step, add smaller lines or specular highlights to them.
NOTE: If at any point you are unhappy with how the glazing is going, try switching back to the previous colour and glaze in the opposite direction. You can switch back and forth like this at any point, until you are satisfied.

You can get this effect with a trio of any color. All you need is one that is darker, one that is in the middle and one that is brighter. Base coat in dark one first. Mix some of the darkest color with the middle one and glaze on a new transition. Repeat this with the middle and brightest and finally end with the brightest by itself. Only 3 paints used. (you can add black to the darkest to push the contrast and you can do the same with white and the brightest, just not for red that would just make pink).

You can save shorts! Click the box of his pfp in the bottom right corner. A menu will open, the option to save it is at the top.

you can also just tint/shade thousands blue with black and white. other than that, this looks amazing

How I paint power swords is start with a gray to be perfectly honest almost any dark metallic gray would work and then I paint a blue in an electric or something in the vein design and glazed with a light bluish green before adding the pure bluish-green in the middle of the design

So if a power sword gets coated in energy to do the cutting then why would the edge be scratched?

One: it looks better. Rule of cool is a thing. Two: I imagine it’s the energy field, not scratches. There’s *a lot* of ways to represent the field.
