Lads I'm in Kildare 2 summers ago I was in town and found a pigeon who kids had put a rubber band on the birds wing right up at the joint by the time I found her the wing was gone so I scooped her up and took her home the hole healed great I'd never kept pigeons but had other birds as a teen, so I knew how to handle her she's a wild bird a northsider she's doing great now but lived at first in a press at the end of my bed the cats also sleep in the room but when I found her first they were kitten's if they got two close she would slap them with the good wing so we called her ninja pigeon, my problem is she is all alone I could have tried to hand train her but it was stressing her out I feed the wild ring neck turtle doves in the area so the seed attracted someone's flock a few of whom came into the room so out of curiosity I caught what I taught was a cock & pit it in with her & she gave him a bad time so out he went n I tried another after about 20 different birds I'm starting to think I have the most unsocial pigeon that was out there, after lots of KZfaq videos at first I taught she was a cock because I can hold her upsidedown in the palm of my hand so this made me think we had a he but after feeling her butt I started to think it is a she I know I used both sexes 1 at a time & she saw off all of them any advice on the best way to get it some company & find out for sure her sex if it is a hen can she breed without the second wing, I let her out to the flock that land in the garden last spring & a cock showed great interest he did all the dancing then invited her to fly with him but as she couldn't he lost interest. What should I do for the up in coming spring to get her company I'd Luke a pigeon I can let our to fly who will come back it would be cruel to have a bird with 2 good wings & not let it fly, she poor thing dreams about flying she broke the side of her box so I put a pathway of purches so she can go from her box where she's feeding to my horses saddle in the corner with a sheet over it to protect it from poop then on the wall I drilled wodden steps so she can go up to the curtain pole she likes it up high but prefers the saddle, I'm sure shed be well dead if I'd left her there but she is a flock bird and at least a mate would give me ease of mind I couldn't keep more than 2 in my room and an outside lift would be no good to her if my mastiff dog didn't rip it apart she would get stuck on the ground & I'm thinking a rat or local cat could get her any tips would be wonderful if its a chick I need I need to be 100 per cent on both sexes at the minute I'm not 100 per cent on her sex just because she sits in my hand on her back with her head back I was told a cock won't do that plus she has no crest round topped head and flat feathers down the back of her neck unless she's roasting...
