Күн бұрынI was a few steps into this custom barrel or cylinder lock for Arturo when I thought to pick up the camera and film an informative video for you guys. I get a lot of requests on these type of locks so I wanted to give a behind the scenes look. This one is made for a 6MM rope chain. Final length on this rope chain was 18 inch so I had to plan accordingly. Adding a lock like this is a luxury to any gold chain and usually costs more to do so. This video shows step by step on how a lock like this is made and put on a beautiful 6MM rope chain. Everything is 14kt gold.

Large production I have a manufacturing team. I’ve outgrown that position. Also, I’m not as skilled as my polisher and he’s not as good at what I do. Best way to succeed is to let others do what they’re best at and work as a team. No egos, we all want the best product possible and that’s from making a mold all the way to a satisfied customer when they receive their merchandise.

Is a barrel clasp better than a lobster clasp? I have always thought lobster clasps were easier to put your chain on without looking in a mirror. Did not really know anything about barrel clasps until I watched this video. This is education for me. Thank you.

You’re super awesome! One thing I have noticed about your gold ropes is, when you go to weigh them and drop them on the scale l, they don’t curl up. I have a gold rope passed on by my father 14k 3mm 28.4 grams. Just wondering if it’s because it’s old gold or what. I bought my 6 y/o a chain from you btw.

I heard it had to do with the alloy in the gold. He said Italian rope chains would tend to curl up. Even though it's been two years hopefully it helped.

I have two older Rope Chains. They both have the Barrel Clasp on them. I think I prefer that over the Lobster Claw. Jacoje, Is it possible to add about five inches to them?

if it takes hours to make..wouldn't it be cheaper to order the from a single supplier. I assume you have a bill rate of at least $100/hr (covering overheard, insurance) and right there that's 300 in labor...never mind gold...for the lock. That def turned me off from going that route.

this is nothing new you can just order a barrel claps vs paying for it to be made,fitted to your necklace, this design is not much of difference from the regular design vs vs having 2 locking arms instead on one .

It does but anything 22kt is soft. You’d have to use lesser purity for the tongue and safety latches.

Yeah they have a bench jeweler course on campus. Most gold smithing and bench jewelry is passed down knowledge and experience.

90% of my experience and knowledge was from my own. I took GIA and it was good but I learned from mentorship that saw my passion and drive. I don’t have a handbook on how to be a good jeweler. Everyone’s path is different.

It's nice for a bracelet, for chains the best option will always be the lobster clasp.

I haven’t adjusted any prices. Only time prices are adjusted is when I get a new shipment and there’s a gram weight difference that can cause the price to go up +/-
