This is The Uncut version of This Composition: Making Love Out of Nothing At All I know just how to whisper And I know just how to cry I know just where to find the answers And I know just how to lie I know just how to fake it And I know just how to scheme I know just when to face the truth And then I know just when to dream And I know just where to touch you And I know just what to prove I know when to pull you closer And I know when to let you loose And I know the night is fading And I know the time's gonna fly And I'm never gonna tell you everything I've gotta tell you But I know I've gotta give it a try And I know the roads to riches And I know the ways to fame I know all the rules and then I know how to break 'em And I always know the name of the game But I don't know how to leave you And I'll never let you fall And I don't know how you do it Making love out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all, out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all, out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all Making love out of nothing at all Everytime I see you all the rays of the sun are Streaming through the waves in your hair And every star in the sky is taking aim at Your eyes like a spotlight The beating of my heart is a drum, and it's lost And it's looking for a rhythm like you You can take the darkness at the pit of the night And turn into a beacon burning endlessly bright I've gotta follow it 'cause everything I know Well, it's nothing 'til I give it to you I Can Make Your money double, or i can make you loose your shirt, I can make Your Old Wounds start to heal or I can make the New Ones Hurt, I can Make the Music Louder, Or I can make the songs all fade I can Make evry Girl Just Wanna get up and dance, And Make The Boys in the band start to Play I can make the runner stumble, Or i can make the final block, I can make every tackle at the sound of the whistle, I can make the stadiums rock. I can make you find your power I can make you lose your fear I can make your body do some very magical things I'll make your inhibitions all disappear I can make tonight forever Or I can make it disappear by the dawn I can make you every promise that has ever been made And I can make all your demons be gone But I'm never gonna make it without you Do you really want to see me crawl And I'm never gonna make it like you do Making love out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all, out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all, out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all, out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all, out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all, out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all, out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all, out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all, out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all, out of nothing at all Im hoping Someone fill follow The Late Jovit Baldovino, Who can perform this

Jim more often than not left the keyboard covered worth blood from his fingers. Rory didn't have to use that growly sound on some of the high notes...Jim just liked that sound of tension and asked that he add that in.

I guess you can’t fault the management team for going with Air Supply, given that it ended up being an iconic international number 1, and the air supply lead singer has an incredible voice and range, but I agree with you that Rory sings it better in this version.
@natebelville2 жыл бұрын
Agree with both points. Jim Steinman almost always had another pianist do the studio recordings of his songs. Not sure why. He toured with Meatloaf on their first tour and did great. Maybe he thought he wanted a session musician or virtuoso to elevate the drama. I saw an interview where he talked about a KZfaq video that explained the intricacies of Total Eclipse. He said “Did I do that fucking stuff? I didn’t even know that😝” He seemed like a cool guy. Probably he’s a perfectionist and sees himself as a songwriter first and foremost and wants the best for his songs. But yeah, he tore that song up IMHO.
@lwcarr38792 жыл бұрын
@@natebelville Steinman was an able pianist, but he was also by his own admission a heavy-handed pounder. When he heard Roy "The Professor" Bittan play, Steinman acknowledged that this guy was way better than him, quite simply. And Bittan is famous for bringing Springsteen's ideas to life, so Steinman knew Bittan would just "get it." And he sure as hell did! RIP Jim.

Rory Dodd is clearly one of THE MOST UNDERRATED vocalists EVER! No offence and with all due respect to Meatloaf, Dodd should have been a headliner just as well with that voice! Then we have Jim Steinman who composed some amazing songs that blew the charts away by the very popular artists who sang them... Why these two didn't become something together is beyond me! Talk about a super duo!

I love Steinman's writing. Thematically, he wrote consistently about time: Urgent. Finite. Fleeting - slipping through our fingers - then escaping. Urging us to hold onto the night, catching that dream, holding onto that feeling, seizing that moment, clutching it 'til dawn. Once this night is over, it's over forever. It becomes that bittersweet memory of a thousand wishes unsung. Objects in the review mirror may indeed appear closer than they are...

Piano + voice + emotion = pure magic I grew up listening to Jim Steinman songs. My older brother turned me on to Meat Loaf back in the early 80's. I destroyed multiple cassette tapes of Bat Out of Hell from playing them all the time. I heard the Air Supply version and I said once "Man, that is a song Meat Loaf would sing." It wasnt until Streets of Fire came out and "Tonite is what it means to be young" that I figured out - Jim Steinman Meat Loaf Bonnie Tyler Air Supply Thanks to the internet I was able to find more. "And i know the night is fading/And i know that time's gonna fly/And i'm never gonna tell you everything i gotta tell you but i know i'm gonna give it a try" There is something about reading these lines and hearing them that makes them possibly the saddest and most soul destroyingly final lyrics every put into a song, because the older you get, you realise it is all true. When you look back, the speed in which life passes is terrifying, and there will always be things left unsaid, and for the most part you will never know how the story ends but you have to give it a good go trying to get there. That is why Jim Steinman is the greatest songwriter EVER. And what is more, there is something about the desperate sound of Rory's vocal that just makes the words even more poignant.

Just a masterpiece from the Master Steinman in the powerful voice of Rory Dodd, who -pretty much similar to Bonnie Tyler-, just followed the feeling and the directions impressed by Steinman on the way he wished he made the concept of his songs. This version is absolutely an incredible one!! .... Just new in 2024 from a pretty terrific girl in her voice, coming from Afrikaan Pretoria took this masterpiece and honor Mr Steinman with her powerful voice as well. A very good signal that Mr Steinman is alive and Mr Dodd keeps on being -on this particular song-, the perfect fit on his voice, for this song. Long live Mr Steinman!!!....

Rory Dodd tore this song up so good. I can totally see Meatloaf doing this song as well. Meatloaf was the perfect mouthpiece for Steinman. If Steinman’s songs went exclusively to Meatloaf, Meatloaf would have remained a huge star from the 70’s all the way to today. He’s still a legend in his own right but I think he will still be somewhat synonymous with the first Bat album. Steinman had some huge hits.
