It is an absolute travesty how he wasn't included in Rolling Stone's 100 greatest guitarists. Its a travesty how he didn't top the list

I think just not enough people have heard him. If you listen to enough of his live playing, a range of his songs in different styles, it becomes evident he is one of the great guitar virtuosos.

@@jimmycampbell78 well Slash cites Rory Gallagher as an influencer, but yeah he was only really well known in UK and Republic of Ireland but Jimi Hendrix often mentioned Rory in interviews so you know he was good.

I didn't know that. Thankfully my therapist taught me that depression always comes from some prior frustration. No point eating magic mushrooms for depression. Purity and greatness are often not linked. Both words describe Rory. He never deviated from the music he loved. Fame was not important. Playing to an appreciative audience was. For that, I am forever grateful. He remains along with Robin Trower, my favorite guitar players.

That is definitely on my "bucket" list! I will have to have my own festival this summer at my house, in June.... I am going to celebrate Rory's birthday tomorrow, as I am going to wear something plaid to work and listen to him all day!!! Our Irish God will not be forgotten!!! Hugs to you and celebrate tomorrow my friend!! Take care.... :)

Rory was one of those Masters that Too many of us used to mainline music on the AM/FM radio and such missed out on during the 70's and the 80's. I saw his brilliance then and often wondered why this man never made the Media recognition and Fame that he deserved then. Raw Blues/Rock here that Shines!
