Losing to spite your rivals is the definition of weak mentality so it's no surprise little Rory believes this. For Ange's system to work, he needs elite players and he won't get that unless he makes the Champions League. Spurs have the opportunity to become one of the most exciting clubs in football as a result. Who cares if their rivals win the league and get better as a result? The rivalry wins in the end.

Regardless of whether Ange understands why spurs fans would want them to lose, or he doesn’t - how could he come out in the media saying he is sympathetic to fans wanting the team to lose, and then go and motivate a team to win - doesn’t work. This “we'll lose to stop you from winning” might be what's wrong with Spurs as a club. What a waste of a fanbase if they don’t want their team to win even if it benefits a rival. When Blackburn won the league in '95, their last game was at Anfield. For Liverpool, winning that game meant they could've handed their biggest rivals United the league but no, they went out there and won it to secure a top 4 finish and to go out with the highest number of points possible. Back your own team and let your rivals worry about themselves.

Rory is right and wrong.... Football fans like him, which unfortunately are a large number of football fans, have that asinine tribalism where they want their team to lose if it would hurt their rivals. So yes, a segment of the Tottenham fan base will definitely be cheering on any city goals tomorrow, but it's not the whole fan base, they will also not boo their team if they won and most importantly the actual team will not roll over. Basically it's going to be a *weird* atmosphere tomorrow, but that is basically it.

Spurs fans may hate Arsenal, but Ange found it insulting for fans having these intangible hopes of defeat to Man City so Arsenal are losing one trophy, because as a manager he didn't want to lose the game. Ironically all the spurs managers defeated Pep and City in the last four fixtures. That would've been incredible if Ange was added to that list of managers for that accomplishment. Bearing in mind, Ange is making Spurs play better than the other managers before.

I understand the Spurs fans wanting the team to lose (as an Arsenal fan I was cheering on Liverpool in that CL final) but if there's a chance of playing CL football next season the manager, the players, and especially Daniel Levy will be wanting to win the game.

This is both massively wrong and massively right at the same time. As far as my club I want us to do Haswell as possible. But it's the passion that creates the league we love and that passion says we can't give them the league

I would rather end the season 16 but not handing a rival team a cup! losing a single forgettable match is way better then to live with the consequences of if arsenal wins the cup, for 40 year's to come! It's just pathetic to criticise us about why we wanted spurs to lose

Reality is, spurs would grow more in the Europa next year due to being able to rotate more than in the CL that they arnt ready for. That plays a big part in all this. Arsenal fans are just pissed they need it handed to them cos they couldnt beat villa at home lol

3:12 As a Man United fan 😂 I do understand the ludicrous statements but I feel the same way about Man City winning a 4th straight, that hurts my soul more than the loss to Arsenal, now I listen to this & it’s funny as I wanted my side to lose & no one. A tell me red devil blood don’t run in my every veins! I didn’t win so I didn’t “hand” Man City thankfully 😅
