This episode epitomises why Modern Wisdom is a really good podcast (I'm working through them in a haphazard order): firstly, the guest is really interesting and, secondly, there's a moment just after Rory's spoken to the plumber when you ask if he's wearing a smartwatch but he doesn't hear and continues the electricity convo. At that point, ego says I want to continue my train of thought, good podcasting lets him carry on speaking ... as you did.

So there I was sweeping and mopping the floor while I listened to the podcast through my iPad. Next to the iPad is my Echo Dot with Alexa obviously ‘listening’. While Rory was talking about Alexa and saying how a resident in a home asks ‘Alexa, play Ray Charles’, MY Echo Dot starts playing Ray Charles. Immediate confusion for a couple of seconds until I realised what was happening, then 😂😂. Cheers for the laugh... anything that makes mopping more fun is a bonus!

Really interesting podcast, Rory always has such great insights! Surprised though that I haven't come across this podcast before since it's right up my alley, is it available in an audio-only version anywhere other than iTunes?

Fantastic news. Yes they made a big song & dance about wanting to 10x the Android plays for podcasts in the next few years. Currently it’s about 10-20:1 Apple:Everyone Else and they’re not going to leave it like that. I’m not using google podcasts but does that link above work fine on that platform to link to the channel?

Thanks Lee, we’re very big on audio platforms - currently sitting in the Top 200 Worldwide on Apple Podcasts Chart, KZfaq we haven’t cracked yet though. I’m confident if we keep on putting out quality podcasts like this one though we’ll be flying soon right??

Hi Chris, Love the channel. Couple of ideas: 1) Video the podcasts 2) Edit highlight reels as teasers for the full episode 3) The channel is called Modern Wisdom. Perhaps you could create videos where you distil the wisdom learned from your podcasts, so we don’t have to listen through an hour of waffle if we’re in a hurry.

Hi Amin, thanks for connecting. 1 Unfortunately not all guests are comfortable with being videoed, however I have a new setup which has boosted the production quality (some episodes using this setup coming over the next few weeks). 2 We have trailers for all videoed episodes but hadn’t thought to put them on the channel and was just using them for promo on socials. Could perhaps put them at the beginning of episodes as a hook. 3 I’ll be doing more short form videos over the coming months however I’m not a massive fan of distilling learning down too much. It’s the reason that I don’t think book summaries are as effective as reading the book itself. Context is everything and time under tension is key for embedding learning.

As a non-Anglo-Saxon, I have incredible admiration for the UK (especially England) for everything it has given to us in the rest of the world, from the Ind. revolution to the music, old movies, old tv shows etc. But after having visited London and a few weeks in the countryside last summer, I could never agree with Rory that life in the UK is great. If anything, I thought it was terrible and finally understood the British cynism. Shitty salaries, cameras everywhere, horrible food, really ugly gals, horrible weather, too many immigrants, small dwellings etc. I just felt so damn encumbered and claustrophobic. I was happy to leave even though I dreamt about visiting the country for decades. Maybe its just the current era England. Really no hate from my side, I still absolutely adore the culture, but more from afar.

Well done Rory. I think he’s the only person with logic and common sense who agrees on cleaning there ass with water! Proud as a Muslim that this is something we were born to do and never cleaned with toilet paper unless we’re traveling and there’s no water. I hope you try this Chris & Jonny. If you don’t have a the bidet just use a bucket you’d use when you have a bath
