@@TheBogeres go to Andalusia, is the land of flamenco, I'm from Barcelona, like Rosalía, but the real flamenco culture, the real dialect (Rosalía sings with andalusian dialect, but she is catalan) is in Andalusia. Go to Granada or Sevilla ;) Love from Spain, and sorry for my english hahahaha

The audience were at an award ceremony the prizewinners just received their awards and gave a speech but Rosalia just wanted to sing...you can see that it was almost improvised...the stage wasn't set up for this but as you see Rosalia and her backing group of Gypsies just knock it together its just good fun. She probably turned a very boring event into a party for the majority of the American audience who were in bow-tie and evening dress mode.

Rosalía hace una actuación impresionante, aparte de su talento se ha sabido rodear de artistas de mucha valía y talento,los coristas son artistas con trayectorias propias: los hombres que hacen coro y hacen las palmas se llaman Los Makarines,la mujer del pelo largo Anna Colom y la mas joven Claudia "La Chispa" podeis verlos por separado en videos en KZfaq. Son los que habitualmente la acompañan en sus actuaciones en directo.

This is from the flamenco tradition. The clapping is a key element in flamenco. Its roots feature the voice, the clapping (which is an instrument), and maybe some small percussion box and the background vocals or call and response vocals. And the dancing is also key. And flamenco and related Spanish vocal traditions, the singing is supposed to.convey emotion and in some songs with the vibrato and other vocal techniques is supposed to sound almost like the singer is crying. Look ot up, but the flamenco in Spain comes from the Roma populations, people who were pejoratively were called gypsies.

By the way, as you were asking in another video, Rosalía's album "El mal querer" is inspired in a book from around 1300, named "Flamenca", which is about a love triangle. In the album Rosalía developes the history of a love story with toxicity and gelousy, but also with love and passion.

The singing technique IS 'a flamenco thing'. They're all accomplished flamenco singers who've been imbued with this since childhood. But the audience is only sat down because it's a televised award show and they're not allowed to get up. Anywhere else they'd be hitting the floor. Go see her perform live

Moves slightly with flamenco steps. The song "Di mi nombre" is a Spanish flamenco tango. The movements are not improvised. Flamenco has Arab, Indian, Persian, Celtic, Iberian roots, of course..and also many African roots (from North, Central and West Africa. Spain is a transcontinental country between Europe and Africa, part of Spain is in Africa. Many of our traditional music is a cappella with very rustic instruments.
