How to not kink the recoil spring!!!

This reassembly technique that you don’t have to put the spring together with the receiver is GAME CHANGING, man! Thank you!

Your video has been the most helpful of all I’ve viewed. The process with the bolt and the extra pressure needed to seat the trigger assembly housing was invaluable. Thanks.

I’ll add my praises for this video! I agree it seems to be the best approach for reassembly I’ve seen, including other videos and the instructions. I had bent my original spring badly enough to keep the action from working properly. I also managed to lose my buffer after forgetting to put it back in after cleaning. After a replacement spring from M*Carbo and a replacement buffer from eBay, I’m back in business! Hopefully with your tips here it will last a while! One thing I would add here - the trigger assembly seems to only go in easily if the safety is on safe. I know you remind your audience to put on safe, but it seems to be a functional requirement as well as for safety, for me anyway. Thanks again! I do enjoy this video as well as this great little rifle!

Phil, Thanks so much for the kind words. I'm happy that you found the video useful! I am also relieved to hear that I am not the only one who forgets about the Buffer!!! I have often fantasized about supergluing it to the receiver, but it probably isn't a good idea! I never realized that the trigger needed to be on safe when reinstalling it, but that's probably it has always been on safe when I did it anyway. I did, however, forget to mention that the hammer needs to be cocked back or it will not fit on (common sense I guess). Anyway, glad you like the video and the rifle. I have tons of fun with mine. Happy Holidays and Happy Plinking!

Dude, I’ve had this Mossberg 702 for about 10+ YEARS. The manual went right in the trash along with the box it came in when I was 21 years old back in about 2010. Coming back to this gun I’m like 😳. I did kink the spring, but after some extreme frustration, I looked up this video and was like “aaaaah ok, I see”. Very well explained; quick, easy, and to the point.

I've had the Rossi version of this for a few months. The first time I disassembled it, of course I bent the spring. Not enough to cause any issues, but it was a close call, and a royal PITA to reassemble. After watching this video, I gave it another try (it was filthy btw) and it was vastly simpler to do, with virtually no risk of damaging that fiddly spring. Thank you for the vid and a better/safer way to clean my rifle.

Excellent video. I bought one last week and took it to the range. Shot great but seemed very sluggish with the bolt and recoil action. Dissembled and found factory grease and gunk in the receiver and on the bolt and recoil spring.. Cleaned all and lightly lubed. Working very smoothly now. To all new purchasers of this rifle, dissemble and clean first before shooting.

@@crypto_pinto2660 Well, it really depends on how patient you are. I have never taken the trigger assembly apart, but I have cleaned it using WD-40 and Q-tips. If you take your time, you can get alot of the grit out. Another thing that I have done is run the trigger assembly under very hot water, shake it out, and then use a hair dryer on it for a few minutes. I then spray a bit of WD-40 in afterwards. This gets it very clean. It all depends on you comfort level about the water.

What do you mean by "back part"? If you mean chopping off the synthetic stock, then yes it would still function. You would need to keep the grip portion of the stock. I have no clue if it is solid or hollow inside.

Is the front sight glued onto yours? Well, not "glued" per se but adhesive of some sort. Mine came with what looks like a bolt hole on the front sight,, but there's no bolt in it and it looks like there's glue like they just glued it to the barrel? I bought it brand new from a retail sports store in my area. I'm speaking about a rossi rs22
@chadwickmeyer7844

I think that the front sight is glued in place. There is a screw, but when I took it out the front sight was still firmly attached. I don't know how to take it off. 🤔
@SilencedLamb69

@@chadwickmeyer7844 I looked again and figured it out. The circular part that protects the red optic, slides off by pushing it forward, like towards the tip of the barrel. Then, the piece that holds the red fiber optic in place, you push that to the right to slide it out of the main plastic piece that holds the optic to the gun. Once you slide that second piece off, you'll be able to see a second screw. Once you get that second screw undone, the whole thing will come right off. I realized the adhesive isn't actually holding the optic to the barrel, it's just kinda helping keep it in place so it doesn't move around. Took me too long to figure that out. Ive never had fiber optic sights before so I wasn't aware it came apart like that I hope I explained that good enough.

You know the pins that secure the Rossi rs-22.are to stay attached... I mean, You can do what you did but, if you notice that one side is slightly smaller & the opposite side has hash marks/ extrusions so that, you can keep the pins attached if you lay the rifle down bolt side facing down & push from the opposite side. They are meant to stay captured.

Does anyone else's Rossi have the problem of the bolt getting caught up on the top of the magazine? I have to pull the magazine down, without hitting the magazine release lever. This gets the magazine on the lowest position and allows the bolt to cycle freely. If I do not do this, it jams quite a bit. I just figured you get what you pay for. Its not bad, mine is pretty accurate, but the jamming issue is very frustrating.
