My grandfather musician told me "you always recognise a piece from Rossini, he's always in a hurry because he has to go stir the tomato sauce". Rossini was an extremely enthusiastic chef, in addition to a great composer.

I've probably watched this 100+ times and love it every time. Between the conductor's actions, the gray bearded cello player and the first violin the enjoyment they are all having with this wonderful piece makes it just a special video. Thanks to all of them for their performance.

One thing that stands out when watching it is that the conductor has no music in front of him and no one in the symphony is looking at the conductor but they are all in sync.

I, too, loved this performance, and especially noted the passion of the lead violinist (on the right hand of the conductor). She almost bounces out of her seat when the beat picks up. Impressive...I love PASSIION IN MUSIC and IN IT'S PERFORMERS!!

@@19franken95 and he was writing same thing patriotic. This composition was written to incite the Italian to rebel against the stranger occupying forces in Italy. So he used the music to give them the rebelius spirit needed to fight the other soldiers . at the time Rossini was a papalino meaning a citizen of the pontefic state. Supported by the French the Austrian and held Europe. Is fast pace is due to excite the spirit of the rebels against everybody. Viva Rossini e Verdi.

Yes, this is a truly fantastic rendition, but for contrast I welcome you to listen to the Grimley brass band rendition from the movie "Brassed Off" ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jpiHldaZzZzMhaM.html). Pay particular attention to the cornet solo. I love "William Tell' no matter who plays it.

My heartfelt thanks to the sound engineer(s) and the video editor and of course the musicians and conductor. I am not an expert in either but simply someone who knows enough to appreciate the end results. After watching this performance I was left with the overwhelming feeling that not one musician left anything on that stage that day. They gave everything to the performance and the sound engineers and video editor highlighted that perfectly. Thank you

I love how the conductor has complete control of the orchestra. His movements, eye contact and attention to detail is superb. The ending is so powerful as the entire orchestra stands up. This is how such a great piece should be performed, with a powerful orchestra and conductor. Bravo!

As a kid in the 50's, I saat in front of our radio and listened to this music almost every day. This rendition puts the radio to shame. It's powerful, heart stimulating and very well done. I too listen or watch this at least once a week to get my energy level up.

In all my years of listening to the great classical works, THIS IS THE BEST performance of "The Gallop" that I have EVER heard! You could not only see and hear...but also FEEL the emotion of the orchestra! Rossini would be VERY proud to have heard this splendid rendition. And how about that ending where all the musicians stood up for those last several notes?

I think Rossini would have hated it. His metronome markings are slower, and he detested unnecessary high notes and other extravagances that smacked of showmanship. I cringed when I clicked on this version.
