These cars are pretty useless on the road tbh. Any race from the lights you will lose because the 0-100 is stupidly slow in these barras as they just spin. Basically any normal new car would beat it to 100. Also while roll racing illegally, they also just spin so they end up losing most of those races too haha. I've seen plenty of 400-500rwkw barras get chopped by 250-300kw gtr's, Audi's, BMW's, Mercedes, golf r's. So for the street they're the the car can be a lot of fun for skids but for racing purposes they are the worst of the bunch. Only good for drag racing at the track. Even roll racing at the track these barras have a hard time beating other cars lol. I had a 500rwkw f6, built auto, pretty much lost to all types of cars on the road and track. Never again would I buy a barra and do it up haha

@@94toxic94 yeah but that doesn't really matter. Like old mate said, they aren't trying to build the fastest car just a fun tough street car. You gotta keep in mind that not everyone wants to race at the lights or even race other people. I went from a 310wkw RS3 that could chop anything and everything all day long at the lights to a 250wkw Renault Trophy R that does 0-100 in 4s on a good day and spins up in 3rd at 100ks. Its the complete opposite of the RS3 since that thing was insane for 0-100 and then straight up boring for everything else. Same with most small modern awd 'performance' cars. The Renault imo is a superior car because you have to properly drive it if you want to go fast and yeah it does 100-200 in less than 9 seconds but it wont babysit you like the Audi while you do it. I imagine its similar for cars like this BA. Its heaps of fun, not that fast and there's nothing out there that can replicate the feel of these cars.

@@Timtam99mate your previous rs3 or Renault would absolutely chop these barras in any form of racing/driving. Those cars are heaps more fun than these barras. There's no point in building big powered barras because you can't use the power, basically it's only fun for skids which in that case why bother going big power. Just keep it stock as you'll be able to do the sane thing and save yourself big $$. I just don't see why people build these big power barras. Literally redundant in every possible

Love the BA XR6 Turbo. Wish I could travel back to 2003 and tell my younger self to sell the Toyota RAV4 and get a Ford XR6 Turbo and drive low Kilometres. Great review Ross.

The sound of a cammed Barra is a sound of its own. I let mine idle just to listen to it. Then put the foot down, lose traction, listen for the screamer pipe and let the BA sing. Also stuck with the 6 speed manual.

i remember driving a fpv f6 tornado Ute (barra turbo) i asked the owner if the turbo works properly he replied with your not putting your foot down enough i hit boost and it was kind of scary......they seem better than the r33 nismo i had a chance to drive

I have put one of the stage two cores in my factory housing and I can’t fault pulsar turbo cores. Hopefully you are going to make Powercruise at Queensland raceway on 7-10th September. If you make it to there you will see another hi horsepower bf that goes there every year and it’s very quick. It’s one of the hi torque performance cars it’s twice as fast as my bf and I have just over 500 whp

@@94toxic94how many stock cars come out with 400rwkw🤣 all depends on set up 400rwkw hi stalled transbraked is going beat this 60foot probably eighth mile unless good experienced manual pilot who can launch get power down ,400-500rwkw is plenty for street ,just comes down to set up

1000 on the street is just rediculas 😂 I thought my fg was terrifying at 560whp 😂 Just picked it up Thursday and absolutely loving it, manual 09 fg xr6t, has a 336whp, 469whp and 562whp tune, only been driving it at 336hp and it's scary like that lol torque is 680nms at that level I've never experienced acceleration like this in my life. Just did pads n rotors as they were cooked, found out that after having to do an emergency stop and barely pulled it up in time 😳 Melbourne drivers are absolutely terrible... Can't wait to put it down the quarter 👌

Tbh that power isn't that quick, I owned a 500rwkw f6 and it didn't pull that good. It was just meh, these barras weigh way too much for them to fast and fun regardless of the power they make. I now own a rs3 making 318kw and I smoke 600kw barras roll racing and from a dig it's not even comparable lol

@@Simeon301091 that's true but I promise you that the barra won't give you a smile on your face like many other better cars. People get caught up in the power figures with these cars whereas in reality they don't go that hard, fast and just aren't fun cars. You're better off just buying another car rather than dumping $10k plus into a barra, no matter what you do with a barra it'll be pointless on the streets. Getting outrun by camry at the lights or getting destroyed by all other sport/muscle cars on the street roll racing, how is that fun lop. Yes there always a car faster but any car faster than a stupid f6/xr6t

bigger brakes arent going to make it stop faster, its the size of the tyre contact patch that matters, bigger brakes will just be more heat efficent

entirely wrong, larger callipers are 100% the most effective way to stop.. otherwise 6 & 8 pot callipers wouldn’t exist, yes you need enough rubber on the ground but bigger callipers are the only thing that’ll slow you down faster

$60k plus spend to turn into a fun car, which is basically undriveable at even 1/3 the limit..Big dyno numbers for pub bragging only.. Spend around $4-5k on an AMG Merc A45s and you'll get a comfortable, full of luxurious fruit, AWD and the ability to run sub 4 second runs from 0-100kph...Not the big HP numbers, but you can at least drive it.
