I've worked as a tech for Prince, Motley Crue, Marshall Tucker, Metallica, AC/DC, Chicago, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Police, and some more that don't matter. Waggaki band is a world class band.

Wagakki Band is made up of top-notch musicians who agree with Yuko Suzuhana's (vocal) idea of "I want to send Japanese classical performing arts to the world more POP." She is the winner of the national competition of "Shigin", which sings ancient Chinese and Japanese poems in a unique singing style. (She was singing in the intro part is Shigin.) The first thing WGB did was to make a cover album of songs made with the composition software "Vocaloid" that lets virtual idols sing. When the music video for "Senbonzakura", which was included in their debut album "Vocaloid Zanmai", was released, it attracted worldwide attention and became an opportunity to expand overseas. (Currently, the number of MV views is over 150 million times) If you want to know WGB, there is a TV program that introduces them, although it was recorded 6 years ago. Wagakki Band in "Entertainment Nippon" on NHK World (05.09.2015) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g7R3nJSb1amnj30.html WGB ended its contract with Avex in June 2018 and signed a global contract with Universal Music. Please note that since then, Avex-owned MVs other than live video will be blocked if used as is.

their live performance of 拍手喝采Hakushu Kassai at Dai Shinnenkai 2018 is a must. You get great solo segments for each member as well as various pair ups. Its a really energetic fun song (seems to be pretty safe on youtube too).

Absoultely. Written by Kurona, the Wadaiko player (Traditional Japanese drums.) The other outstanding song that doesn't get enough love is _Guernica._ F*ucking Fire.

Machiya (The guitarist) is the songwriter for both songs. Homure (Flame) is a song he brought with him from a previous solo project. He uses the "Noh" mask on those songs. Akatsuki no ito (thread of down) is a special song for WGB, as the audience uses it as an encore chant. WGB constantly puts together big shows, one of Japan's most popular bands at the moment. Everyone is professional on their instruments, All songs are good, no one is equal, Metal, rock, jazz, ballads, funny songs, sad songs, etc. WGB is an 8 piece band: Yuko Suzuhana - Shigin, vocals (Founder of WGB) Machiya - guitar, vocals (Arrangement) Beni Ninagawa - tsugaru shamisen (Three strings (guitar looks like)) Kiyoshi Ibukuro - koto (Japanese National Instrument) Asa - bass Daisuke Kaminaga - Shakuhachi (Bamboo Flute) Wasabi - drums Kurona - wadaiko, Taiko (Traditional Drums) The song "revi" recommends could be a good follow-up. Select video from "CC W" YT channel, all songs have English subtitles. And stay away from MV licensed to Avex. As you have already experienced, they are blocked. WGB is best live anyway.

Yes, you are right. Machiya (guitarist) is a singer and songwritter. He is also in another band "m:a.ture", he will perform by himself and write songs for other artists. 暁ノ糸 (Akatsuki no Ito) composed by Machiya with simple chords and repeating lyrics. He hopes everyone can sing together. So their fans sing this song to call encore at the concert.

Beni plays a Tsugaru-style Futozao (Thick Neck Size) Shamisen. The sharp, flashy style of tsugaru was played in the streets by the bousama (blind musicians) who developed a more lively style.Blind musicians at the beginning of the 20th century, including Shirakawa Gunpachiro,Takahashi Chikuzan and sighted players like Kida Rinshoei developed a new style of play, based on traditional folk songs ("min'yo"), but with a lot Improvisation and eye-catching finger work. This style - known as Tsugaru-Jamisen, after the native region in northern Honshu - is relatively popular today in Japan. The virtuoso tsugaru jamisen style is sometimes compared to bluegrass banjo. The classic pick is called Bachi. The koto is a Japanese zither and the national instrument of Japan. The bamboo flute is called a shakuhachi and the second drum kit is a wadeiko The singer's very broad vibrato is typical of Shigin, a traditional poem concert style. Suzuhana Yuko, the singer of the Wagakki Band, began studying the piano at age three and shigin from age five. She graduated from the Tokyo College of Music’s Piano Program. Yuko is currently active as a shigin instructor, singer-songwriter, and pianist. The style of dance that Yuko performs is called Kenshibu ('Sword and Poetry Dance') This is a category of Japanese interpretive dances performed to traditional music with poetry. Kenbu refers to dances that are performed with the help of a sword and Shibu dance with one or more hand fans called Sensu / Ogi (folding fans). The origin is from samurai. In the early Meiji period, Raifu HIBINO (originator of the Shinto school) organized the conventional dancing styles into the current ones by introducing some styles of swordplay. Singing and dancing are performed basically by different persons. The number of performers varies; sometimes one singer and one dancer, but often one singer and two or more dancers. There are no specific costumes for singers, but dancers wear a hakama (divided skirt for men), shiro-tasuki (white sash for holding up tucked sleeves), and shiro-hachimaki (white headband) to express the emotion of the poem. In some dances a fan is used along with a sword.Dancing to shigin with a fan only is called Senbu (literally, "fan dance") or Shimai (literally, "poetry dance"). Kenbu and Senbu can together be called Kensenbu (sword and fan dancing). The mask that Machiya wears is based on the Noe Theater, popular in Japan. Masks are an essential part of the Japanese Noe theater whilst the actors of the Japanese kabuki theater perform without masks. ..

Great reaction, love Wagakki Band. Their old label Avex is still pretty strict. Their current label seems to be better. I've seen others react to newer videos. Their live stuff seems to be safe which is the best way to experience WGB in my opinion. Since you like instrumental metal I think you would love Asterism. All three musicians are incredible, but Hal-ca, the guitarist was born to be a rock star. Another Japanese instrumental rock band is D_drive. They have two guitarists, and they harmonize frequently. Cheers

Someone answered and said that the Machiya wrote both songs. I believe he had a typo though because the second song is called Thread of Dawn. Yuko sang this song with Tokyo University orchestra. She has written songs and she performs "Like a Bird".

Yeah! Wagakki Band! They are incredible. Yes, you are right, a lot of their music writes the guitarist Machiya. The flute instrument called "shakuhachi". The Yuko's singing style called "shigin". And... till our days the reactions to their music videos very often banned by KZfaq :( You can only hide it with a lot of watermarks or filters... But not live videos - I think you can react to it freely... You can try to watch their collaboration with Amy Lee from Evanescence with the song "Bring me to life". You will be impressed - this is the best version of this song! Thank you for your reaction. I hope you will make reactions to Wagakki Band, Lovebites, BAND-MAID and Nemophila in the future.

Apparently you did "Senbonzakura", this is their most watched video, but also belongs to their previous label avex trax. Reaction channels get copy right strikes, if they do official music video from avex channel. Funny thing is, avex tried promosting the band, by inviting yourube reactors interview them on tour, but was also blocking reactions. hm i think the blocks realy began 2017, before that was ok, as i've seen. But the band is at a new place and MVs from they youtube channel doesn't get blocked. Live shows too, though youtube doesn't allow uploading a few concerts, avex must be keeping the rights for them to. Well, the guitarist is a self produced solo artist and had another band, so he is definetely experienced in every aspect of music - he plays many intruments, composes, makes lyrics, sound engeneer, arranges. With time, eventually he was let doing the arrangments of Wagakki. On first albums they got help a little. 7 out of the 8 band members have composed for the band. But you are right, the guitarist has a little prevail, Yuko (vo) follows him along with the bassist Asa, then comes the drummers. Sheesh they are really busy along the field, with they solo projects, 3 of them still run a sub-band along the way. Yuko (vo), Kiyoshi (koto) and Dai (shakuhachi/flute) have another band called Hanafugetsu. It's music is more mellow and Yuko plays piano there. Actually this band started from Hanafugetsu when Yuko wanted to explore new options. Some song suggestions: Kagerou, Howling, Hotarubi (Heian jingu), Synchronosity, Reload dead, Guren, Sun wheel, Ignite, Nijiro chouchou, Iroha uta, Okinotayuu, Hakushu kassai, Doppo, Tengaku, Atena no nai tegami, Eclipse, Kyoka suigetsu + Tsukini sakebu yoru, Strong faith, Sasameyuki, Izana, Ikusa, Sabaku no komoriuta, Episode.0, Queen of the night, Bou getsu, "Homura" is from the guitarist Machiya' solo album before the band. The mask comes from there. He was almost gonna wear it all the time, who knows, but took it off after the second video. Now he wears it only at instrumentals. Sometimes his solos are incorporated among the instrumentals Wagakki band do, only at live shows. Here are some other options with a mixture of diff. instrument combinations. As i said, sadly not all of them are available on youtube: Tono monogatari go go+ Chie no kajitsu+ Somosan seppa kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rdmHmr2bx9C8lYE.html Toono monogatari: Kyuuyon kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nrKJg9l219nQeGw.html Tomodachi ninaruyo kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ad2pd6met5myj2Q.html "Akatsuki no ito" is also by the gitarist. Yes, it became the fans' chant as an encore, as it's easy to learn to sing along. But if you could see how the song is made into a symphony, my God. Wagakki did two concerts with orchestra. Bits from the second Premium symphonic night are available on YT.

These five years have brought about a huge change in reaction videos. I've seen quite a few channels disappear in that time. It seems that currently a status quo has been established where almost everyone wins. I hope it last's. Blocks are one thing and copyright strikes are quite another. All the bands from Avex group has this trouble. This band is amazing and these two songs are a classic.

You're right: the 2nd song doesn't have verse or chorus. It's a single old poem that she's singing again and again. That song, Akatusi no ito, is one of their iconic song that they are always playing during Encore in a gig. Sometimes they change the intro of that song (the part that is declamed in the traditionnal shigin style) like here, by example: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rcxhhrmLtNa7j5c.html And no need to worry about reactions being blocked as long as you stick with live version, and Wagakki Band is a band that is exceptional when on scene.

As you may be getting at, most of the good reactors are showing many of these bands and groups to an entirely new fan base who would never have come across them otherwise. IMO, the important part od this symbiotic relationship is that the reactors provide a direct link to the group or band being reacted to, in a clear location at the top of the description so it's easy to find and, preferably also to their home channel and/or web site. There are, unfortunately, may who fail to do that most basic thing, which is not only bad manners, but showing no respect to the OP they are using for their virews.

You mentioned finger tapping. Did you notice that the guitarist Machiya was singing harmony WHILE he was doing the finger tapping sequence? If you ever get to see the video where they, the Wagakki Band do a Live rendition of a remake of Evanescence's Bring Me to Life with none other than Amy Lee, the original singer, you'll notice Machiya, the guitarist singing the part that was originally sung by Paul McCoy of Twelve Stones, all the while playing the guitar. Reaction chnnls were different back then, reactors would just play others' contents, videos, musics etc and made faces without adding any inputs from their parts. No effort at all. They were basically "lazy" and "stealing" that's why reactors were hated by studios/creators.
