I was looking at a similar design for the plug to help center. I may look at mounting the chuck directly to the t-slots instead of the back plate, but we'll see when I look at it all again.

+ILGopher I still need to center drill the pin on top so I can use it to align the rotary table under the mill spindle.

sweet and simple idea thanks for video..noticed a post in need a of a rotary table my route slowly check the home shop machinist jan/feb 2001 edition...the poor mans rotary table build your own.. keep up the videos

I need to make the plate for my rotary table and chuck. Thought maybe you would have faced the face when you were turning the plate round. I need to find a piece of aluminum or cast iron to do this though.

I see the nuts in the back of the plate holding the chuck but you did not show how you fitted the two together. Can you explain that part please.

I counterbored the 4 holes with an endmill and just bolted them together.

Simpler method- drill through the 4 mounting holes from the back to the front with a 1/4 drill- go to front and counter bore the 4 holes for 1/4 socket head cap screws. Put a morse 2 center in the rotary table and center your chuck on it. Transfer punch through the 4 holes into the table and drill and tap for your 1/4 bolts. Bolt your chuck directly to the table- done in 15 minutes no machining, no adapter, just 4 bolts.

He did not have a Morse taper in the center of his rotary table.

@@gvet47 I've never seen a rotary table without a Morse taper center hole, but even if it has a straight hole- find a pin to fit and do the same procedure-

@@oldschool1993 Well his video told bis story on the rotary table center hole is all I was trying to say. I just wish could fine a low profile chuck to adapt since so many have a lot of wasted depth. My table is #2 taper though as wanted to make sure when I got it.

No metal lathe here but I see those 4 jawers are cheap and I have a great drill press from like WWII that could probably benefit from that exact upgrade. I think we're at close levels of learning so as you grow, learn, and share I will benefit and maybe be able to understand some of the biggies here on YT. Ablom...etc
