Nice, that's what I like about this hobby, figuring out how to make a part and fixing what went wrong with it. It's cool that you did this video talking about the problems you encountered. Great idea on 3d printing one first. I'm going to have to get better at CAD.

getin' it done! You can do some great stuff on the rotary table, the trick is getting it right. I learned some complicated methods, but still haven't found a simple way to position the part on the table to get an accurate radius cut. If the feature is just cosmetic, then drawing scribe lines and drifting the part around until the cutter is close is good enough.

thanks for viewing, suggestion what Joe Pie as he has some very good rotary table videos that explain position

The most important is that you figured it out. And of course also the you had fun with it.

I've had the tunnel vision issue many times. Leave it for a few days, or have a buddy come by and point to the problem in couple minutes. LOL Glad see you got it ! The whole clan is coming over for the game today, I'm on barbeque duty... Enjoy all....

I would have used an ER Collet attachment on the rotary table; it would keep the part low to the table and give the part more supported. KC Chiefs won the Super Bowl.
@outsidescrewball4 ай бұрын
thanks for viewing and congrats to KC!..I did look at using an ER32, but due to the size of the table, clamping became the issue....

Maybe you could pop a couple of holes in a piece of round scrap to hold the parts on the correct pcd for the center of the part & turn & bore the rads on the lathe.

thanks for viewing and your interesting comment, I did consider using the lathe...

A question, please. The centers of the 2 radii are at the same point, correct? Then the outside radius will be the inside radius plus the thickness of the head on the centerline for the proper radius, correct? In that case, the part will need to be moved out the thickness of the head to swing on the new radius, correct? I hope I understand what you are making; I think I do.

thanks for viewing and you are correct, that is what I showed on the Fusion drawing....

I do the same thing in Fusion. Let it do the math for me. That "49er's are gonna win" prediction didn't age well. ;)
