I'm not a skater, but these make great exercises just because it's more fun than jogging. I found this video about 2 weeks ago and couldn’t rlly rotate enough on my off ice axel (Sind I had no idea what I was doing lol) but now I almost have a double. So that pretty cool, thx :)

Fabulous collection of the jumping off ice sequences. For great skaters this is the secret to more accurate jumps. Sports science says these exercises are priming the muscles range of motion with strength, breath, coordination, flow and precision as well as the mental training.

I used to do this floor exercise and then the long stretches in the evening. It just makes sense to practice jumps on the floor before you start on the ice.

This is a great video for those like me who have no idea what jumps are all about. Until now they all looked to me like the same spins in the air. Now that I see this video I see that there are different ways to take off and use the feet & blades of the skates. Neat!

Bing Sun you cant ‘figure out’ how to do a double, its not a puzzle. You have to practice it consistently and for quite a while before you can manage two revolutions

absolutely, it's what I am doing with my athletes right now as well! Some of it is a little updated, but most of it remained the same, and has been the same since I skated 20 years ago. :) Good luck and stay safe!

You can always just turn the video speed down.

Just go to video settings, go to speed, then select 0.25. :) That's what I did.

any help?? my jumps are slow....like i will use my muscles to jump high and then i squeeze my core and pull my arms tight to my body but i still rotate so slow? it seems like i can only rotate one revolution......any tips or advice on what im doing wrong?

How long did it take you to learn all these jumps? And did you try them on ice first, and simply practice them off-ice, or did you test out/practice the jumps off-ice first before going onto the ice? Thanks! Also, quick question, did you learn these with a private instructor, or are they self-taught? Thank you so much!

When I was young I could easily do double jumps, but in my 50s, I barely hit 1 ⅓ rotation (of ice).
