I've used rotisserie motors for my Halloween props for many years and just wanted to share their benefits and the potential for what you can do do with these great motors. I haven't seen many Halloween videos showing these motors in action, so I thought I'd show my leering skeleton which uses a rotisserie motor. I also made a breathing grave prop for this year which uses a rotisserie motor as well. These are a great alternative to the frequently used reindeer and windshield motors.

I was going to buy a reindeer motor, but rotisserie motors already come waterproof. Great idea!

You know I've seen these at thrift stores too. Never thought about using them for that. Now I have to visit some and look around. This looks like a great speed for flying ghosts too because the wiper motor usually seems to make them fly too fast. Or at least do 2 ghosts, one that flys faster and one that goes slower

Great video. I've been using rotisserie motors for a while as well. My very first prop was a flying crank ghost using a rotisserie motor. I use them for cauldron stirring, Opening and closing drawers, headset raise and lower behind tombstones, and I'm thinking of making a spider array with one to control the motion. Thanks for sharing this video!

Never had any luck with those motors. Probably because I'd pick them up at tag sales. Interesting to see that they last that long for you. NICE compact prop you've made. Looks great!

I’m thinking of making a static Santa display we already own have an arm that waves. Do you have any idea if this would work for that? How do you figure out where to mount the rod to the motor so the skeleton just goes back and forth, not in a circle?

I got a rotisserie, but the crankshaft/ skewer part just slips in and out. I have to keep it upright. Working on that problem.

What's the difference between rotisserie and reindeer motor?? Torque??? As the speed seems about the same. I am the Australian distributor for reindeer motors. And have a variety of different speeds and shaft attachment options.

Wow that prop looks great! May want to look at microwave motors. Found them on ebay for 7.00!!! Haven't used them yet because I just ordered them. May not have as much torque though.

That's what reindeer motors are, just enclosed in a waterproof enclosure!

Yep, they're cheaper there, plus you get the entire metal case, glass, etc, to make something else.

He probably snapped apart the spinal replaces it with pvc and inserted in the spinal. Screwed the bottom part and left the upper part not screwed. I'm guessing.

Bbq motors may be water resistant, reindeer motors are usually enclosed in a watertight enclosure! So may depend how you are mounting it - out of the weather or not!
