Travis does his first fly and drive on his favorite truck. 1st gen Cummins. This truck was a snow plow truck that’s since been abandoned in the hills of Iowa. Will it run and drive 1300 miles back to Tucson? Find out in this episode.

For those running into voltage regulator problems, the ones sold at O'Reillys, Autozone, or wherever don't like to hold up in these trucks. Some last a couple months, but most last days or weeks. Got a transpo c8313 regulator and has worked flawlessly for over 3 years now.

Amazing that the truck made it 1,300 miles. That 70s hotel is a trip, and I've seen my fair share of interesting small town hotels having driven between the west coast and the Midwest quite a few times to visit family. Last time I made the trip I stopped at an... Interesting Howard Johnson's in Gallup, NM. They were selling 8+ ft tall metal statues made of car parts in the lobby.

Still kicking myself, several years ago when I was a bright and bushy eyed 17 year old, my grandpa offered me an ‘89 4x4 Cummins for $800. Body had some light rust, but the truck ran and drove flawlessly. I already had a ‘99 Tacoma that I had purchased recently and I didn’t want to pay insurance on 2 vehicles. He ended up selling it to someone else and I’ve never seen that truck again. On the bright side, 12 years after buying the truck, I still have the Tacoma. 480k miles, I bought the truck at 200k. Never had any real issues with the truck.

The second proportioning valve in the back is most likely a load proportioning valve. At least on some chevys they had an arm going to the axle that moved when load was applied to the truck. The more weight that the truck carried the more pressure was allowed to go to the rear brakes. It was a good idea but now is just another thing to break
@101computerman
@101computerman 11 ай бұрын
The rear "proportioning valve" is actually dodges abs module for the rear breaks. Mines been long since disconnected by a previous owner but I can still hear the solinoids in it clicking when I first turn the keay on and it does it's self test. Might hook it back up but unlikely
