In this video Rottweiler Attacks other dogs - Aggressive Dog Training with Americas Canine Educator Thomas has traveled to San Diego California to work with a Rottweiler who has high dog reactivity and attacks other dogs while out on a walk. Thomas works with the owner initially to determine her control of the dog without other dog distraction. Over 2 days Thomas will work with this dog to correct this aggressive behavior. Thomas uses the heel command to reverse this dog reactivity over several days. Make sure to hit that bell notification so you can follow this story over the next 3 videos.

kind of got the vibe it was more a fuck off were working while being polite. And a lot of people would take it as all rotties bite rather than all dogs bite.I always went out of my way to let people pet mine same with the mastiff mix i have now. Always let kids pet him but teach them to always ask the owner first and be calm.

Ah, the old “do they bite?” question. 😂 My response has always been, “Depends. They got teeth and a mouth? If so, yeah. Probably.” But this owner amazes me. One of the most frustrating things to see with dog reactive/aggressive dogs is their owner failing to take any sort of charge over their dog, or even acknowledge that there /is/ a problem. This woman clearly loves her dogs, understands what they need, and takes the time and money to meet those needs. SO much respect for her!

Rottweilers are WORKING DOGS. For their safety on the job, the tail is docked. You only get 1 chance to dock a tail without a risk of making a super sensitive nub with exposed nerves and that’s as a puppy. That’s before you are 100% certain the pup is going to be working a job their whole life. Beyond a certain point, the spinal cord descends into the tail. Before it you can dock the tail with no risk of discomfort beyond the initial healing. I’ve had a Rottweiler that kept her tail and broke it from normal wear n tear. It can happen in a split second. For the past 5 years of her life I cannot even wash her tail because the slightest touch hurts her so so so bad. I regret not having it docked as a puppy every day since. Your heart is in the right place... But you know nothing
@crforfreedom7407
@crforfreedom7407 4 жыл бұрын
LOL!!!! I can answer that! SO YOU CAN HAVE SOMETHING LEFT ON THE COFFEE TABLES AND END TABLES AT THE END OF THE DAY!!! I have 5 Rotties that live with my family, and all have their tails docked THANK GOD!!! I had a Shepard once and that was bad enough; occasionally would sweep the coffee table clean with one swish of his tail! A Rottie's tail is stouter still, and imagine FIVE!!! You'd be beaten to death! They are a working breed, but more importantly, they take the dew claws when they dock the tails, and WOW does that save the dogs some hassles down the road as well as pain for me! Dew claws are a rough go all the way round, but they usually don't like to take them alone around here without the docking in addition for some reason. For me, I just like the look. Some day I'm going to hook them all up to a specially built cart I'm going to make for them and have them pull it. Swear I am. THEN they'll have a practical purpose for themselves as well.....

Hey man I love you videos, you really seem to understand and get to the underlying problems dogs are having. You probably won't see this comment, but I'm having problems with my dogs obedience . He's a great dog, but has lots of energy, which he uses with his brother and they are great, but he doesn't like to listen/gets distracted so easily he just can't help but chase things. Both my dogs typically will hangout on the porch when I'm out front. Never had issues but recently my dog (little over 1yro gsp mix rescue) has been running after things. Not aggressive, just gets excited and runs. And I can't get his attention back to me in these situations. Same in the backyard if he's running he doesn't stop

Hi, usually any problems our dogs are having is caused by lack of direction from us humans, i thought I was a good dog owner and then after 36 years have had massive problems with a chi of mine, Tom made me realise that 1, I had been lucky previously with my dogs and 2 that I was a lot less educated on what I need to do to have a well balanced dog. Keep watching Tom's videos, he has ones to cover many problems. Sounds like your dog has a higher prey drive than some. Good luck.
@n1kmike740

He just gets so excited and distracted. Even training with food, he is very food driven. But he gets so excited for food that he can not containment himself lol. He's a good pup, just soo hyper. Like a 6 year old with really bad adhd haha. My mother says he's me in a dog. But he's my third, the others were calmer, easier to work with. I just can't seem to keep his attention. Or get it once he's off. And he typically doesn't chase like squirrels, he normally runs up to my neighbors, or dogs. He's very well mannered with both, so I'm not worried about that just need to get it into his head that he needs to listen, and only say hi to everyone when I tell him he can

This dog is loving the verbal reward and attention. When the dog sits and leans its head on your leg it’s definitely into the training mode and most of the time dogs just want to please you since you are their master and provider . You just have to listen to the professional ( Upstate Canine Academy) and put in the time and you and your dog will be greatly rewarded in many, many ways .

Huskies are a very stubborn breed (only stating in case it's your first time with the breed). Make sure she's getting plenty of exercise. Even near perfect trained huskies will start to not listen if there's a lack of exercise. and just be patient as well as consistent in the training, and work in rewards when doing it correctly. They're very smart and she'll catch on. :P

Ok, great, I figured that was the problem. I need one of those collars, I know you say they aren't spiked, but they have points that can replicate a mother's mouth in the act of correcting bad behavior. I don't know what they are called but I have seen them in the past and we used on when I was a kid for our male Rottweiler who was overly protective of all of us.

I did not understand how Lucky I was to grow up in San Diego….as a kid. A throw away from Coronado Island, Belmont Pier, Sea Wold, San Diego Zoo, LaJolla, Del Mar, Imperial Breach. I get it now, for sure. How fortunate. Living by the Pacific Ocean, is absolutely amazing. I’m so sad that I can’t afford to be there now. I mean…..look at this walk. Right on the beach. I use to run, everyday on the beach. It was always just….there. Like a regular every day thing. But hardly anyone has that, where they live. SD is legit the best.

So on a "normal walk", do you have them in "break"? For example, most of the time I'd take my rottie (and soon to be GSD) on a walk is down the road in our quiet, country neighborhood. I don't need them in a heel necessarily, but I don't really want them "leading" or "pulling".

That dude who just reached in to get the dog to sniff him is the reason why so many people get bit. I have a 110-pound 3 year old rotty and he tore up my neighbors arm pretty bad…. Because he for some reason felt the need to try to have my dog sniff him. Bad idea.

Ppl equate “control” with constant leash tension. Totally counterproductive. It’s weird how certain concepts apply to many things..in brass playing some have a mouth placement that relies on a stiff control, this doesn’t allow a soft entrance, but if you take a totally relaxed embouchure and develop a vibration from when you start to blow, it’s like..giving up one kind of control to achieve a much better kind of control.

Idiot man walking by *while sticking his hand out to a dog he doesn’t know* - “does she bite?” Me - we’ll I think you would’ve figured out real fast if she did by puttin your crusty hand out like that. Toms response was perfect and that’s what I tell every person that asks me if my Rottie bites.

*This woman does not need to have a Rottweiler. She seems to want to have it for protection. But what she doesn't know is that dogs need to be trained for protection and that more than 90% of dogs that are not trained for protection are only good to bark a couple times before they back off.*

Could you not judge what this woman wants her dog for? Lmao. It’s clear she enjoys them as a family member if she was WILLING enough to get a trainer to correct mistakes
