Victoria: Nothing I could do could get this puppy off of me!! OK.. so you're an expert dog trainer, right??? How about taking your thumb and jamming it down the puppies throat???? You can't do that with a full grown Doberman, but with a puppy??? PROBLEM SOLVED IN FRACTION OF A SECOND!!! This video is nothing more than a highly produced, dramatized TV show. A competent BALANCED trainer can solve these problems in a FRACTION of the time and AMAZE the owners MUCH more than Victoria. The ONLY thing that Victoria did right was to introduce a crate, but the protocols for entering and exiting the crate were COMPLETELY WRONG and did not introduce any concepts of leadership to the dog. I would LOVE the opportunity to follow up with these dog owners or to go ONE-ON-ONE with Victoria in these situations to evaluate WHO is able to fix the problem more efficiently, effectively and faster and with longer lasting results. But... she's a professional actress, and I'm not.... so she has a TV show. Ask yourself when looking to resolve your dog's problems, do you want an actress, or the best dog trainer.

Couldn't agree with you more, they did exactly what Victoria advised them to do and then some (crate command!). Personally, I think Elise was golden from the get go, she did most everything right before Victoria came by but I think the walking schedule was the root issue and caused by her not having time for more than three walks a day--which is completely understandable! I also respect her husband for stepping up to the plate to help Elise and Raven after recognizing the personal boundaries he set were too harsh.

Exactly!! I remember this argument a few years ago... Im disabled, broke my pelvis and surgery failed. My mom tried gifting my daughter a puppy, she was 4 at the time. I was so upset, it was a big argument and i made her take the dog back. I wasnt trying to be mean but i lived in an apartment, had 2 cats, single mom and surgery just failed and i couldn't fully walk without a walker. Insane to then bring a dog in without asking me.

Yeah not sure so many of these SO or partner just goes a head and get a dog then expects others to do their job. The fact is the matter is a dog is just like having anyone child and more. It’s a lot more challenging because they don’t understand your words or can speak to you and they’re not the same species. I mean in some cases it’s a lot more than a kid. I never understood why people just go ahead and get a dog without partners or family’s blessings. It’s just backwards to me.

She just got lucky. But people shouldn’t expect others to take care of other’s duties especially when one says “I don’t want a dog in my life”. Many people even on this show break up because they didn’t even want dogs in their life. And dogs can usually tell if your heart is not in it or loves the dog. Then more often a couple ends up breaking up over a dog. Just watch some other videos. People shouldn’t get dogs when both people don’t want it.

Training a dog is basically learning how to communicate with that dog. It shouldn't be a chore but it should be a happy experience for both the dog and the human. Keep the lessons short, fun and positive. Redirect when needed and keep on doing it. What you put into the dog's first 18 months will be a lot of work, but it nets a lifetime of great experiences for the entire family.

She's very mouthy, but Ive worked with her on my couch, playing with her, and anytime she bites or nips, I yell OUCH and get up off the couch, disengage the playing, and stand with mt back turned to her for about 20 seconds. The nipping and biting has greatly decreased. I think using a lead and removing her from the living room once she gets mouthy with the family is going to be a game changer, so glad I found this.

My experience of raising a puppy was easy, and very fun, I'm not saying he was a greta student, or that I was a great teacher, rather that I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience, and was not tired out by it in the least. I had done a lot of research, and studied dog behaviour so it is fair to say that had a reasonable advantage over the average owner, but only because I put in the time and money beforehand. Everything did not always go smoothly, but even the bad moments (and they were not few and far between) were an opportunity rather than a burden. An opportunity because it was mutual teaching, I was learning from him, while I trained him.

I’m just taking aback how lightly people take getting a dog. A puppy is like a baby it needs a lot of time. The first weeks with mine were just evolving around him. Potty training, we were out eight to ten times in the day and every three hours doing the night. He was potty trained by week five with little accidents. And training a puppy is also a huge thing to do. I don’t say I did everything right by far I didn’t but he just turned two and he is in training as a Therapie dog. Of course we have problems and had them of course but we mostly enjoyed our puppy time together. I would wish for people to think more about what it means to get a dog. You can get a lot of joy but it is work, a lot of work. So just get a dog if you ready to but the work in.

The first couple was not ready for a puppy. If he told her he did not want one, why would she not believe him (symptom of problems in their relationship)? They have done zero training, not even bothering to housebreak Raven properly.

Beagle/Basset hound mix is a great family dog. Especially since they are set on getting a puppy! Otherwise, I would suggest that they get a grown dog that is known to be gentle with children & has lost its family.

My partner and I have had six dogs over 40 years, and I worked for a pet supply chain which held training classes for most of those years. It is not like I don't understand how much work is involved in having and training a dog. I do. Our last dogs, a pair of dachshund/spaniel cross rescue dogs, died about three years ago, at the ages of fifteen and sixteen, of old age. I really miss having a dog and feel very lonely without one, but I am almost 80 years old, and I don't know if I can provide what a dog would need. I used to work for a cat rescue, but developed an allergy to cats, and I have had a cockatiel, but don't know if it would be fair to get a cockatiel at my age either, since they live fifteen or twenty years. We would get an older adult dog, maybe around 8 years or so, and a smaller dog, under 25 pounds, which is the size limit in our senior housing community. I am trying to decide if it would be fair to a dog to get one, or an older bonded pair so they would have company of their own species, which I think is important for a dog. I am feeling depressed not having a dog, but I don't want to get a dog for selfish reasons if I can't provide all the dog would need.

I think it depends whether you have a good support system - if there's a way for You to arrange someone to take care of the dog in case you are unable to for a period of time, or in case something happens? Would friends in community help walking them if you caught a nasty cold? Younger people ought to have contingency plans as well but as we age or fall ill it becomes more important. If you can walk short distances few times a day and have resources for vet care with heart full of love you could still be an amazing older for an older, lazier small dog or a bonded pair. I've always had oldies (12+, at least!) as they always captured my heart and all the small ones would be incredibly content with what You can provide regarding exercise :)

Tbh i got my first dog this year, a 2 1/2 year old rescue. Wonderful Doggo. Shes been in a room for like the first days with a baby gate. She quickly learned to jump over it. But it was just for her having some personal space for these very first scary days. She has no crate now. She is mostly in my room, lying on the floor, the Sofa or her own little House inside my room, which is not lockable. She uses it alot now. I got my rules to not bother her when inside and not touching her at all. I may call her but respect it when she doesnt wanna come. If I need her not to move, ill just close the door to my room for 2 Minutes. It works fine. But im usually not going anywhere without her so there isnt any reason for a crate. Mostly, someone is home or she comes with us. We trained her from the beginning to now follow into every room. Or let her at home or closed the door of her first room. Since we have two cats, one always around, i dont think she would feel too lonely for a short time either. We also give her something to eat, like a Kong toy or other treats that need some time to consume, to make sure shes not hella bored.

Elise pushing at the puppy with her hand often on her mouth is responding how the pupoy wants her to respond! Theyre encouraging her, ratger than having the play STOP instantly. Raven is having her behaviour reinforced!

I'm watching this, knowing full well that I'm getting 4 puppies in a month 😅 Just before I get criticism in the comments, I do have a lot of experience with dogs and have had dogs all my life living up to the old age of 17. So I know these puppies will be trained a loved unconditionally ❤️ 😊

I'm so happy the family had decided to ask a dog trainer before getting a puppy so they can understand how to properly care for a puppy! I find that most people look at dogs and go "oh it's cute, lets get it!" And don't actually understand the proper way to care for them

Don’t yell when they run away, bring treats so they know you getting them is rewarding. When you work with them, groom them every single time. Grooming is essential for your horses health and your connection and trust with them. If you need any off-lead training lmk. There’s free lounging which can also be very connective for you and your horse.

I can't believe they let their daughter bring that puppy to the table. They should have told her to take the puppy back to the pen and then taught her to understand her own behavior and how it could negatively impact her in the future.

When my girl was a puppy she was a chronic nipper as she is half cattle dog half border collie so sheep herding dog so her nipping was horrendous and having younger kids in tears all the time was not good. Best thing we did was get a huge container of Vicks vapour run and covered ourselves for a few days felt so gross on but it ended the problem within A few days.

Its hilarious that in the first one the girl blames her boyfriend for not helping, when he made it pretty clear that he didnt want a puppy and that having one is a lot of work. Yet she went and got one anyway. Now you can tell she resents him for not wanting to help.

He shouldn't have to help. She wanted the dog, she made a unilateral decision to get one, it's HER dog.

My dog only learnt when he was older. When he was a puppy he ignored us. When he got to about 2/3 he started learning tricks and also behaving. So dogs can learn new tricks. My dog learnt spin in 3 days!!

This is a great episode. I only wish that Victoria had recommended that the second family maybe rescue a dog a little older, maybe 10 months to a year old. People overlook these young adults and in most cases, adopting these young adults will be more of a fit for a "new" pet owner and the housebreaking will already be in place.
Super sport🤯
