Correction: at 3:47 I don't mean "tunnel throat", but "guttural", as the term "tunnel throat" usually describes a different tongue shaping, and I mixed those two up.

Asked this elsewhere but whenever I do noices with to get the "deat growl" it sounds sort of husky, and there is no grip/risp or better term rasp.. I also find that I can make this powerfull sound with what feels sort of my upper throat, and if I use enough air support it sounds really loud and vibrates in the middle of my throat BUT it sounds super high pitched no matter what I try.

Maybe you can try get the same tissues rumbling with less airflow? In the beginning that can mean you're sticking to a quieter volume and it may not sound powerful, but that could be a safe way to practice it.

is it normal for the throat to feel kinda scratchy at the beginning of learning these? its not painful or anything. also, im wondering how to tell if im engaging the epiglottis which I heard is not a good thing. any thoughts?

hey man, where should I feel my "angry sigh" in terms of placement? I can sort of do it but I feel alot of rumbling in my throat and chest and it doesn't quite feel 100% correct so I'm wondering if I need to place a sound higher up?

I'd say that placement sensations are very individual. A lot of people report that they feel successful screams in the front of their face, but for me personally, it doesn't make much of a difference.

Why do false chord vocals always feel wrong to me when I do them? My throat scratches whenever I do false chord vocals and they really don't feel like a distortion to me at all. They feel more like irritating and hurting my throat. I'm able to do fry screams and also a bit fry growls (but they really aren't loud) and they feel natural and like a distortion to me but I guess I won't be able to do Deathcore vocals with my technique, can I? Could you please give me some advice? I really don't know what's the mistake.

I would have to hear you to be able to say anything specific about it. A general rule of thumb is: if it doesn't work well the way you do it, try doing it quieter, and if it still doesn't work, try doing it louder. If that still doesn't work, I would consult a teacher (any local death growler would work).

Thanks for your quick answer :) I've been doing Metal vocals for 15 years now and have several songs here on KZfaq if you want to hear my screams. I would love to get some advice from you because your vocals really sound awesome. This is one of my newer songs with fry screams (I don't feel pain here at all and this technique works awesome for me) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iKuqd81luaysm3U.html And this is one of my older songs with false chord screams. They always hurt my throat and they still do, so I decided to learn fry screams. I guess something's wrong with my false chord technique. Maybe you can tell me what my problem is.
