Welcome to Peterson Family Farm. On this KZfaq channel, we plan to show viewers what happens on a real life family farm in Kansas. From working with animals, to planting seeds, to harvesting grain, to putting up hay, to fixing equipment, you'll get to see what farming is like! Our farm is a 5th generation farm started in 1882 by our great great grandparents. We grow wheat, corn, soybeans, milo, sunflowers, and forages and we feed about 1,000 head of cattle. To learn more about it, watch our channel intro video here: • Welcome to Our New You...

really interesting to this non-farmer from back east. it's really striking how complex your farming operation is, and when you were talking about how many acres of alfalfa you plant and your plans to change what's on that field next year, I wondered how and when you decide what mix of cattle, wheat and forage crops you'll plant every year.

I was in y’all’s neck of the woods just the other day guys. Passed right by Assaria and Salina on 135 on my way to South Dakota and will probably be coming back through there on my way home in a few weeks. We’re haying up here right now. Sure wish we could grow alfalfa down in Louisiana. Shame that we can’t

I live near several farms in North Central Oregon and actually bought my home through the Dept. Of Agriculture's Farmers Home Administration. Love your vids and learn a lot about what equipment you use for doing your tilling, sowing, baling, and harvesting. Also how you raise your cattle for market. Do you just breed your cattle for marketing beef, or do you also produce milk and milk products for sale?

Pushing a header and pulling one would have me going crazy. We have so many rocks around. In the field it isn’t unheard of finding fist sized rocks. My brother was opening up a field the other year after moving fence. He picked up a rock almost the size of a baby carrier. We bent the upper auger in the Deere. Had to take it to the machine shop. They heated the steel to remove the memory

Do you carry a moisture probe? To check how dry the hay is? Have had a few barn fires here in Michigan from wet hay.

Those H&S rakes are awful. Ran one for a day and I was ready to take it to the scrap yard, I’ve never had to get out of the tractor so much in one day to fix a piece of equipment. Along with those H&S rakes take way more room to turn.

FORD CAME OUT WITH A BI-DIRECTIONAL 4 WHEEL DRIVE IN THE 1980'S. I believe it was discontinued due to sales and dealer support or lack of....IHC and JOHN DEERE had way stronger dealer network than Ford or other manufacturers our nearest Ford dealer was 35 miles from us but we had 2 IHC and 2 John Deere dealers within 10 miles... There was an AC and a Case dealer about 20 miles from us...
