The best and clearest course on that topic that I have seen. Finally I found a comprehensive explanation on Lr Ps back and forth. Thank you.

There are a lot of videos about round tripping between these 2 programs, and this one is really great too. Very helpful for those who use Lightroom Classic. However, there are (as far as I can see) no videos about Lightroom (i.e. LR not LrC). My edited versions just do not come back into Lightroom. They end up in a Adobe Temp folder. Have you (or anyone here) successfully round tripped between LR and PS? And if so, are there any modifications I can make to fix my issue? Thanks in advance.

Such a very clear and logical sequence to this video. Helps clarify things in your mind and, as a bonus, the Luminar plugin use! Would love to see a similar or re-edited version covering the extra options available when you right click to select edit-in (open as smart object etc). Any chance?

Thank you for the informative tutorial! Though after editing with Photoshop, and saving it as instructed, the edited photo didn't "magically" appear on Lightroom. Though the photo was saved on Photoshop, I can't seem to find a way to move it to Lightroom. Can anyone help me? Am I doing anything wrong? I'm using the 2021 version, by the way. Thank you!

just found your video. You began with jpg and sent to PS but did not show the return. I am on a Mac using the latest version of lr and ps in 2024. When I hit save I am presented with a save as dialogue. It is years since I shot in jpg but and trying to reprocess some of the older photos and I can’t remember if this is how it is supposed to work. Raw, Nikon, dng and Sony files round trip just fine. Am I missing something. Do jpgs act differently. Thanks. PK

Why LR is not longer switching to PS when I open a file? Is there any setting for this? Thank you in advance :)

Thanks for this interesting and clear tutorial ! Unfortunately in my case, when I use the SAVE ( file -> Save ) function of Photoshop I can't get the edited image in Lightroom but it asks me where I want to save, if the Creative Cloud or in my computer. At this point, if I choose to save in my computer, it takes me to the root of the last folder I had open and not to the one where the photos of Lightroom are located... So I have to look for the original Lightroom folder, save it manually, and then I have to tell Lightroom to Synchronize the folder, because otherwise the modified image in photoshop will not be imported.... I mean... there's no way to make this work.... :-(

Hi Fabio, if you opened the photo directly from LR into PS and it doesn't save back to LR with "Save", then the two programs are not communicating property. You might need to reinstall one or both to get them communicating with each other. Or, if you don't do this often, then your manual work-around is a good solution.

Hi There! very informative tutorial, Thank you. I have a question. when saving the Photoshop copy, it is saved in a .tif file. these are huge. What are the other movements/choices to keep it to a more "normal" size? Thank you!
@steeletraining
@steeletraining 4 жыл бұрын
Brian, if you want to keep your layers intact for further editing, you need the huge TIF or PSD format. If you don't care about the layers but want lossless quality you can flatten the file, then save as TIF (smaller but still big). If size is your main concern you save as JPG which will flatten and compress, but with each save you lose quality. You have many options depending on your stage of work and your goal.

Do you see any disadvantages from just saving your image as a .PSD (besides file size) and importing that into Lightroom? I like that it will update the Photoshop edits as you go without affecting your Lightroom edits. I think all these virtual copies could be hard to manage on a bigger scale.
