That is a beautifully running locomotive and an excellent video. I just ran my first steam locomotive today after many attempts. It is a vintage Mamod SL1K locomotive that I built myself to work on 1 Gauge track and their lies the first problem I encountered. My kit did not have enough gaskets so I went to the hardware store and bought a sheet of cutable rubber gasket which was much too soft to cut properly. This prevented the steam from entering the cylinder and caused a massive pressure leak from the sight glass plate. I then acquired some additional original gaskets and installed them. After resetting the O ring beneath the sight glass I tried it again and to my dismay the side rods started to bind and after some research I learned that the wheels had become loose from their axles. So I pulled off the wheels and re-quartered them then fused them back onto the axles using Loctite 603. After letting them cure for a day I attempted to fire it up but it would not build up enough steam to run. It was then I noticed that the whistle lever was being held open by a screw which holds the back cab bracket into place. After removing this screw I fired it up again and lubricated everything. It was then that it took off and ran like hell. Still currently breaking it in but it's so satisfying to see it run and it's getting better each time. I love it.
