In this video, I'm updating my Mobile Workbench with a router table. I use the fence of my DeWALT table saw as the basis. This has many advantages that I talk about in the video. The router table has its own dedicated fence with dust collection. It's a quick build that only requires minimal tools. If you have built my mobile workbench it's definitely something worth considering.
The tools in this video:
- DeWALT Table saw DWE7491: producten.dewalt.nl/powertool...
- Makita Router DRT50: www.makita.nl/artikel/drt50zj...
- Makita Driver DTD171: www.makita.nl/artikel/dtd171z...
- Makita Drill DDF481: www.makita.nl/artikel/ddf481z...
- Drill press: www.hbm-machines.com/producte...

Recently I have seen a pretty cool video of a woodworker who uses a piece of wood to add a router to his DeWalt table saw. Pretty ingenious, and cheap too. Unfortunately he doesn't have a fence and suggests moving the wood to the other side of the table to use the fence. This idea appears to be a much better solution and should work out just fine. Thank you so much, for this really clean and easy solution. Using the 2 x 4 in the center of the fence is just brilliant. Great video!

Beautiful build. Looks great! Genius idea with shimming under the top to fix the height. Sign of a good wood worker is being able to solve problems like that. Also just wanted to say, I love that tool wall at the end! That is actually what made me want to comment. Definitely going to watch your video on that soon. Thanks for posting this, and thanks in advance for the other one that I'm sure I'll enjoy!

Rico, thanks for the sketch up plans. love your table saw work station design and use of half laps. Your router fence design riding on your table saw fence with a front that opens up and collects dust is simply brilliant. My fence isn’t quite the same but I can modify to work.

I like the this table design which sharing the fence with the table saw. Is this Marita compact router power enough for a table route usage? I am debating whether buying a regular router(bigger) or a compact/trim router. the Compact router should be good using by one hand but no sure whether is good for table.

Thanks Giovanni! You will get around to it eventually 😉. If I could buy it again I would get the most powerful one for inside the bench. The little guy struggles with deep passes, so it takes longer. Not a real problem but I don't have a lot of patience 😅

@CornerfieldShop
@CornerfieldShop 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Joseph, thanks for the comment. Great to hear my project helps you out 👍. I don't see any issues as long as the material is solid and supported enough. The combination of thin and big tends to bend somewhere so be sure to build supports where needed. Good luck!

Nice and interesting to see your build! One thing I'm wondering though is if the test cut at 3:34 is safe practice. As far as I understand it is a climb cut which should be avoided on a router table. Feeding a piece 'in between' the fence and the router bit should be avoided as well as it might send your piece flying and at the same time pull your hand towards the cutters.
@CornerfieldShop

I think you are right about that. Sometimes you do things in the heat of the moment 😅. You'll be happy to know I survived to build another day and so did all my fingers 🥳 Thanks for the comment 👍

Thank you, thank you, thank you. First one I have seen using a cordless router! I, myself, am currently setting up a shop and trying to use mainly battery tools. I want to see how far battery tools can actually go.
@CornerfieldShop
@CornerfieldShop 3 жыл бұрын
You're welcome! I think if you really wanted there is no need for corded tools. Just a heap of batteries to power everything. Not sure what's better in the end. As far as the router goes, that works just fine with batteries.
@switching_gears_yeg
@switching_gears_yeg 3 жыл бұрын
@@CornerfieldShop I agree. For the basic home shop they should work fine. Now if you were making cabinets or fine furniture well maybe you might get frustrated with changing batteries. My whole, truly, mobile workbench will have my mitre saw, table saw, and now my router when I buy it. All of them are battery powered. I am even looking into a small battery powered vacuum to see IF it can be used for a quick dust collection when moved away from the wall.

Nice video :) What kind of miter gauge do you have? I have the same saw, but found that using some fences with a adjustable cam (for reducing play) was a problem because of the "T" style profile og the miter slot....
@CornerfieldShop
@CornerfieldShop 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I have a miter gauge from powerpro (banggood.com). It has the profile you describe but it works perfectly. I do recognize that the slots aren't very consistent... So your problem isn't strange, I think more people have that issue. I've heard that sanding the slots can help. Good luck!

Brilliant built. I have the same saw and the corded version of this router, and I think I’ll follow you ideas for the whole build >>> Saw table, plus slide out for the saw and the router table. I’d also like to ensure enough space for a shop vac underneath, potentially with cyclone. May I ask what final outside dimensions of the unit are in terms of depth and width? .... I ask as I want to ensure I can wheel it outside to work outside in good weather and roll it through a door about 112cm wide. Many thanks for the inspiration!

@CornerfieldShop
@CornerfieldShop 3 жыл бұрын
@DaSamba
@DaSamba 3 жыл бұрын
@CornerfieldShop
@CornerfieldShop 3 жыл бұрын
@DaSamba
@DaSamba 3 жыл бұрын
@CornerfieldShop
@CornerfieldShop 3 жыл бұрын
