I can’t thank you enough for this content. We’re being taught that we can flush with regular (tap) water and the inhaler cannot touch the lips. For the NCLEX, is it indeed sterile? And where am I able to find more updated information. Thank you!

If you mean flushing NG/G-tubes with tap water, that's going to be based on facility policy and per order; but the stomach is not a sterile environment, and is highly acidic, so tap water often may be used! Always defer to how your professors/texts are teaching you when it comes to preparing for your exams, but a lot of real-world practice varies based on patient context or facility policy!

Hey doc, great video! Question about sublingual. When you put the medication under the tongue are you supposed to press the tongue down on top of it and hold it there? Or should you just place the medication and forget about it and let it absorb on its own without the tongue being involved?
@LevelUpRN
@LevelUpRN Жыл бұрын
In the majority of cases, sublingual medications are simply placed under the tongue and allowed to dissolve and absorb over a few minutes!

The water for tube administration does NOT need to be sterile EXCEPT when administering to a jejunostomy tube.
