@@user-tg5gu6lf6n I don't think you understand the full context here. Eizen suffers from the Reaper's Curse. Everyone he's around will suffer miserably and die, the longer they're around him. It's a major risk. He wanted to make damn sure that neither the pirate crew he loves, and especially not his defenseless younger sister whom he loves, face any torture or death because he put his personal feelings over their safety. Zestiria shows this a bit better by showing you precisely what happens when those with Reaper's Curses act on their own selfishness. Dezel ends-up turning a King insane, gets his own brother murdered and transformed into a horribly deformed monster, he turns an entire kingdom that's prospering into a corrupt totalitarian empire because he tried to exorcise malevolence from the King, and dies pathetically with the rest of the team having to pick-up the slack after his horrible death. That's honestly the extent of the damage when Malakhim/Seraphim with Reaper's Curses try to live happy lives; they destroy themselves and kill everyone they love in the process. Everyone nearly died because of Dezel. Eizen, being way smarter, avoids all of that and arranges for Zaveid to kill him when the time comes after mercy-killing Zaveid's wife. Yes, Eizen's choices on what he did to the dragon-wife weren't noble; but he places safety of others above himself. She could fly off and destroy an entire town. Best to end it quickly instead of this false hope that they can be freed from malevolence.

I think you're right, and the only reason she could finally let it all out was thanks to the friends she made along the way. They rekindled the humanity she thought she'd lost 3 years ago, and gave her a new reason to fight.

Who? joking, you gotta point. It shows that Eizen was the Male figure Phi strove to become like. Phi saw that Eizen and Velvet shared some connection through out the story. It is also why Eizen made sure to give Phi pointers. The characters all played so well off each other it was believable. Writing at its best.

Yeah, if a game can give you feels like that, with the bond between two characters, you know you're in for something spectacular. Tales of Berseria's tied with Xillia 1 as my favorite game in the Tales series, as well as maybe one of my all time favorite games in general. I love Berseria, Velvet and Laphicet are my two favorite characters, because of their development and how much they care for each other, and the story took more risks with what it had.

Same. This actually spawned a running joke with me and my sister who was playing along with me. The joke being that Phi would constantly run up behind Innominat and hit him with a steel chair like it was always some wrestling grudge match. Like: "We are at the Throne of the Empyrians and it seems the Abbey has won--Wait, wait a moment! What's this? Oh my God, it's Phi with the steel chair!"

This is exactly why I prefer the Tales series to the Final Fantasy series. I'm not saying that FF characters are bad or anything, but those games are mostly story-driven with their characters usually taking a back seat. And, apart from the main characters, they usually lose their importance as the plot goes on. For example, after that Blitzball tournament in FF10, Wakka could have just left the party and nothing would have changed aside from not having him in battle. Kimarhi could have left the party at any point and I doubt I would have noticed at all until I realized he wasn't in the party anymore. Red from FF7 could have just left the party after learning about his father, and there probably wouldn't have been a difference. There are many characters in that series that just become nothing more than battle drones after the plot gets their backstory over with. They're just kind of...there. They barely have any presence or moments or even important lines afterwards. I'm not saying this is always the case in every game, it's just something I noticed and have always been wanting to rant about. Again, not saying that FF is bad, I just like Tales and its character-driven stories more.

Agree, original Velvet was pure kind hearted, cheerful young woman. Not even warrior, she was able to hunt game animals to support herself and Laphi. A** hole Mr Holiness broke her into the edgy OP vengeful malevolent being we first perceived, but deep inside even with all those malevolent badass power she is still the peaceful, kind loving normal young girl and was prob afraid scared. And she was finished here, if not for her kind friends Aizen, Rokiru, Magilou, Laphichet.etc They're the one that made the story game and intresting, specially Laphichet.

Honestly I couldn't even believe it was the same person... when they didn't tell Velvet anything of their plan, what else is she going to assume? When Artorius throws her in a prison for the sole purpose of being a trapped therion without even TRYING to explain his side of the story... what else were they expecting? She'd lost everything she loved and cared about... and then to turn around and say that she has an ugly, tainted soul, she's a monster, blaming her for making his sacrifice mean nothing... too cruel, man, too cruel :(

To be fair, I don't think Innominat is actually Laphicet. He obviously has his memories (and is not afraid to use them) but like Seres is quite distinct from Celica, the reborn Empyrean has a radically different outlook on things than Laphicet (though not telling Velvet anything? That's on Laphi all right). And yeah, the end goal of their plan is... pretty terrible. Given the chance, I'd honestly try my luck with daemonblight, at least you have a chance to retain (or regain) your consciousness at some point.

I think it was even said somewhere that when a person is reincarnated, It's not really the same person, but I feel like the interactions of other characters with innominat were as if It was really her brother... It kinda confuses me.

Actually, they did say that it's Laphicet's body in the game. It's actually more like a mix between the two. Laphicet's personality is still there, not just the memory. You can see that near the end of the game, Laphicet blamed Velvet for not letting him have a win like a child losing against a sibling, Laphicet also gets jealous of Laphicet when Laphicet fights Laphicet and Laphicet talks about how Velvet belongs to Laphicet. Remember Seres? She cried and talked about how she missed the days they hanged out together. Even in Velvet's body, Seres sometimes turned back to her sister to talk to Velvet. Her body may be Seres but her conscious is Velvet's sister, the woman who wants to stop her husband to save both him and her sister.

What I took it as, when what Laphicet did, Innominat used his body as a vessel until he could be awoken, if that makes any sense.

Unfortunately, the comb scene between the final two battles proves that Innominat is Laphicet for all intents and purposes. His reaction to the comb he gave her being broken is too strong to leave any doubt, in my opinion. So all the cruelty was from her brother, as much as that sucks.

I kind of see it more like it's mostly Innominat but there's a piece of Laphicet in there and that becomes his weakness

@alsimard what i mean is just in berseria it feels like all you do is mash a button because any arte in berseria chains into each other berseria's combat is more on the tactics and skills side more than any main line tales to date which if you like that that's fine i just found myself getting very bored of combat in this game compared to say vespira abyss or hell even xillia i have played every mainline entry after symphonia and in my opinon just have to stress that part as a veteran tales player i hope they change up the combat drasticlly in the next game to make it more orinted towards action rather than tactics i still think berseria is at least an 8.5/10 i love this game and series more than any other series but playing this is like going from marvel vs capcom 3 to marvel vs capcom infinte but there's only auro combos i'm fine with accsesbility but when it takes away depth that's when they cross the line vespira imo is the best combat system in the series it is accsesible but also adds on skills that reward you with the ability to add on to your combos which made it feel really rewarding to hunt for weapons with those skills and level up with the perfect ammount of challenge to push you to improve your gameplay and combos while in berseria everything combos into each other tp mangamenr is non existent souls just feel like an abitrary limit on your attacks rather than something you need to manage and if you get unlucky and your chracter gets stuck with 1 soul on a boss fight and you dont understand the mechanics you just spam the same attack over and over the game doesn't even punish you for playing so bad because of how laughable the difficulty is and i beat the cameo fight dark turtelz phoinex so i know what i am talking about as a tales of fan zestira and berserias combat just didnt grab me and to a point graces f but im not gonna go into that this comments long enough

And the 4vs16 thing symphonia actually has 8 arte slots c stick and in symphonia you had to see what attacks worked together and what didn't there was room for creativity whilst being accsebile

I love Velvet and Laphicet's familial bond. It felt so real and this scene cemented how much the two complete each other, Velvet's icy heart being melted by his pure, innocent demeanor, and Laphicet finding his own purpose and growth thanks to the strong influence Velvet has on him.

Having played Symphonia, Graces, Xillia 1 and 2 and Zestiria...I think Velvet is the best Tales MC.

It's just that in Zestiria and Graces case most of the cast is just so one dimensionally tropey and under if not at developed. I mean sure at some relavent plot points or there own story arcs they develope well, then change then right back when it's the main story.

I honestly do not agree with this...I find the cast in Zestiria and Graces to be pretty deep and interesting and nicely developed.
