Roy Hallady is my role model. He’s the reason I started pitching. I just learned he passed away in a plane crash. Hearing this had me in tears. He was my first Jersey I got and I’ve always looked up to him. God bless his soul and his family.

I thought he was the best pitcher of my lifetime. Complete games, era so low, no hitters, an all star, threw a perfect game, ws champ. His no hitter in the playoffs is a game I watched at least 20 times. It didn’t matter if you were right or left handed. Halladay had everyone’s number. Just amazing, I was actually kind of pissed he died today cuz I thought he should be there for his family and he should get a hof induction. One of my favorite players to watch of all time, and I been watching since 1991. Not long I know but I’m 32

I watched Doc pitch a complete game shutout at Mets in 2010 at Citi Field. Chase and Howard were out with injuries but Doc literally mowed the Mets down. Aside from a triple off the bat of Reyes in the old 420’ right center dimensions. He must have struck out ten batters. Mets didn’t stand a chance. Very lucky to have had the chance to watch Roy pitch in person.

In his prime nobody combined velocity, movement and command like the Doc...he was an artist! It was sad to watch him pitch in 2013 because it was evident to everyone that he just wasnt right...I am happy he retired when he did because I want to remember him the way he was before injuries (and age) ended his stellar career. He was a great one :)

While he was a member of the Toronto Blue Jays, Halladay and his wife invited children and their families from the Hospital for Sick Children into "Doc's Box" at Rogers Centre during Blue Jays games. The remodeling of the suite to be more kid-friendly was documented in an episode of Design Inc. As part of Halladay's contract with the Blue Jays, he also donated $100,000 each year to the Jays Care Foundation. Halladay was the Blue Jays' nominee numerous times for the Roberto Clemente Award for his work with underprivileged children.[81] For the same reason, he was also the Blue Jays' nominee in 2008 for the Players Choice Awards Marvin Miller Man of the Year Award. Actually tear up for this fine person. People forget that Doc's initial season was so disastrous, was sent to Minors, where his entire pitchin' mechanics were changed. What upsets me? Why'd The Jays not surround him with a bona fide contender at least once? After all, they did for '92-'93.
