Just to clear it up for some , Roy Keane was the one who gave Henderson his premier league debut and played him in nearly every game at Sunderland when he was manager . He is one of the reasons hendrson is the captain he is today .

@@toksik6 listen to the interview with Henderson . He was heavily involved. And was training with first team way before his debut yes he only played a few games as Keane left in that season . He may have only played a few games under Keane but his replacement carried on using hendo after he left . Keane gave him his debut and had him in the first team for months before he left possibly over a year .

Ben Foster was retelling a story the other day when his team were playing Liverpool. After the game the only thing him and his teammates were talking about was Hendo and how literally everyone on the Liverpool team looked to him for direction. And he gave it, barking out orders etc like he was an extension of Klopp on the pitch. Made me think if he has thoughts of getting into management 🤔

That's not my impression working on academy level. The regimen for today's young players is ten times more meticulous than in the "good old days". Follow the nutrition plan, monitor your sleep, no alcohol - period, upload your pulse/training data every day during off-season, the HIIT training during preseason, all players match data analyzed on individual level, your position/game plan in relation to the next opponent consists of a Bible of patterns and rotations. If you don't deliver measurable improvements, you're out. Players like Gascoigne, Adriano, Balotelli would have been weeded out at an early stage. Hazard is another example of a player who do not have the discipline. Hell, even Christiano Ronaldo failed to deliver according to the plan.
