It's impossible to overstate just how important he was to that great United side. When Keano played we felt like we had a 12th man. Aside from being a dominant personality he was also a high quality footballer. Simply one of the greatest players to ever pull on the red shirt.

People who say negative comments about keane are the same people that go on about how money has ruined the game and made players pre madonnas. The second part of that is true it has, you really think these 18/19 year old millionaire footballers really care if the win or lose a premier league game? However I guarantee you regardless of money and fame these players have now, you put roy keane in the team with them they will start treating every game like its life or death, the roy keanes of the world are exactly whats missing from football teams these days

He’d be a good manager if he wasn’t so critical. Fergie was harsh with his players but he would have a laugh with them as well, so they played for him. If he’s bitter from start to finish with teams as a manager players won’t play for him. It’s the same in any job really

Yep but unfortunately that made him sold to Celtic after he told the gaffer that he had some problems with him.

Keane's contract was finishing that year. Keane was over the line, but Fergie could have his contract ran out and part ways peacefully. Keane gave all his career minus two years to United, the club could have done that for him. At least Keane was over the line. Robson was just used and then dumped. Fegie should have let him play in the FA Cup one more time as our captain. After spending all his career dragging a shitty team through the 80s, giving it all every single game and probably being the #1 reason why Fergie wasn't fired, Fergie couldn't even be bothers to put him on substitute. Absolutely disgraceful and 100% cold blood. The treatment of Robbo was basically why Bruce and Hughes left earlier than Fergie had preferred.

Simple, because no one allowed to be more famous than the gaffer at united, and that's why he did so to Cristiano.

The moment a player becomes bigger than his manager, he must go. How do you become bigger than your boss?! Beckham was feeling too big, he had to go! Two captains can't be on the same ship!

Stupid guy, this Keane! Always talking nonsense. How do you respect a player who can look straight in the eyes of his manager and say, 'I don't respect you' He was a great servant to us Man Utd on the pitch, but he's an absolute thwart! Sir Alex is human as we all are, but we have to respect the man. All those arrogant ex-united players have realized the challenges and what it takes to be a football manager. Aside, Gordon Strachan and Ole Solskjaer, none of Sir Alex's ex-players have ever been proper successful coaches or won a league trophy! This says alot about them, instead of learning from the greatest manager, they had their heads so up in their a**. Robson, Hughes, Bruce, Ince, Keane, Stam... etc. Personally, I think Roy Keane has some screws loose, but he was a fantastic player! Would've cost more than how much they paid for Neymar, Bale and a few others.
