Lyrics:
I had to escape
The city was sticky and cruel
Maybe I should have called you first
But I was dying to get to you
I was dreaming while I drove the long straight road ahead, uh-huh, yeah
Could taste your sweet kisses, your arms open wide
This fever for you was just burning me up inside
Crying to get to you
Is that all right?
Crying, crept in your room
Woke you from your sleep to make love to you
Is that all right?
Crying

I was a little boy, when I came down the steps in the middle of the night to get a drink and saw my father and mother dancing to this song. I stopped when I got to the bottom and watched. I can never remember being any happier as a little boy, when I went to bed. I have never heard this song, after that night without thinking of how my father was looking at my mother. they both loved Roy. 😎

I hope you are all coping the best you can and you and your relative are still enjoying moments like that together. I was listening to this the other day and thought it is really timeless like a lot of Roy's work, I think dementia is timeless in a way. It is such a powerful and emotional song, i wonder if that has any relevance.

Wow... Think about this: No auto-tune, no special effects beyond those of the time, no lip-synching... At that time, what you could do live was the same as what you put out in the studio. Pure talent. What a beautiful voice!!! We need artists like that these days.

I went to a Roy Orbison Concert in 1964, and only a couple hundred people were there. There he stood, on stage, black suit, skinny, in horned rim glasses and the sound system was not that great. But when Roy Orbison opened his mouth a bad sould system didn't matter. He stood there and sang hit after hit, including "Crying", nothing moving except his lips and fingers on the guitar. It was a fantastic performance, by the best. It's a wonderful memory. I'll never forget the concert I attended and saw and heard live the great Roy Orbsison when his voice was at its peak. Elvis Presley's favorite singer.

I've read that he was surprised by his success. When he did the "Black and White Night" album, all the other musicians (who were ALL very talented in their own right) would say "Oh, wow! That's Roy Orbison". He was deeply humbled. Dwight Yoakum (sp?) once said Roy's voice sounded like an "angel falling backward through a broken window". He's a fellow Texan, so I like him as a matter of pride.

One of the most beautifully sung song. Roy's music stands today like the Beatles, Bee Gees, and Elvis. Nobody has ever sounded like him and that's what Legend are made of. I still remember when he passed away. My grandmother was in shock cause we had just watched him on TV. He's got that voice that you can never forget.
